　　本幅款题“廣陵禹之鼎敬寫”。钤“慎齋禹之鼎印”、“广陵囗囗”。

　　此图是禹之鼎在京城官任鸿胪寺序班、供奉畅春园时为王原祁所画的肖像。画中描绘王原祁于庭院内品茗赏菊的情景，以表现其文人雅趣。画中王氏方面浓须，身材微胖，约50岁年纪，手持茶杯，端坐于榻几上，欣赏着面前的丛菊，目光十分专注，举止稳重大方，体现了不同于一般文人的雍容高贵的气度。画中陈设造型简洁，设色典雅的桌榻、摆放整齐的书册、画卷，精心栽培的盆菊等景物，进而点明了人物的爱好和雅兴。画家刻意地突出了主人公和艺菊的主题，并使画面留下了一定的空白，给人以想象的余地。此外，人物的细节刻画也加强了画面的感染力，王原祁凝神遐想，书童谨慎地轻声对语的神情，无不使人感受到静谧幽雅的气氛。在画法上，作者吸收了“波臣派”的画法，人物面部以细线勾勒，以淡墨和赭色略作皴染，人物面色真实自然。衣纹兼取李公麟的白描法、马和之的兰叶描，线条飘逸潇洒，洗练流畅，恰当地体现了人物文雅超逸的气质。图中设色富于变化，在和谐的对比、映衬中突出了主题。
