作品描绘古树下一仙人笑容可掬,手展太极画卷,人物的表情和姿态妙趣横生。以泼墨法画成,行笔迅疾畅快,水墨淋漓。
吴伟的水墨写意人物继承了梁楷遗法。吴伟个性强烈,为人以狂放出名,宁可浪迹江湖,也不愿为礼法所囿,在作品中也有他玩世不恭、狂傲不羁的性格显现。
画面左下角画家自题曰:“小仙。”下钤“小仙吴伟”朱文印。该图曾被严嵩收藏,文嘉《钤书堂书画记》中有记载。
