　　该图上有王渊款：“至正已醜(1349年)王若水爲惠明作桃竹錦雞圖。”钤私印两方。是图将工整双勾的线条和细腻的水墨渲染合为一体，形成兼工带写的绘画技巧，以墨代色，脱胎于五代黄筌“黄家富贵”的工笔设色画风，反映了文人画重墨轻色的审美观。画家以水墨皴擦、晕染、粗细笔并用，行笔稳健而不乏洒脱，水墨层次变化丰富，颇有透明感，全图不着一色已俱见典雅端丽，画意蕴藉清润、幽静深秀。
