此图是作者送给友人的画作。图绘两只大雁在芦塘边,欲行又止的情景。边寿民为了画好雁,曾“结茅苇际”,与雁为伍,每日细致观察雁的行、卧、翔各种姿态,故其笔下的大雁,符合解剖学,具有造型生动写实的特点。此图不打图稿,直接以墨或色加以绘制,显示了一定的艺术水准。
