厚积薄发,艺术的追寻源于发自内心的热爱。魏克友自幼对中国传统文化有着浓厚的兴趣,尤其对书画艺术情有独钟。年少时子承父业做了一名产业工人,却不曾阻滞他追寻艺术的脚步,天分、潜质、勤奋伴随他一路走来。
魏克友的花鸟画用笔率意,生活气息浓郁。他追求八大山人的冷峻高逸、齐白石的娴雅清畅、郑板桥的清雅脱俗、吴昌硕的枯藤篆法,眼观手摹,融汇提炼,将传统手法与现代风格融合得天衣无缝。他注重表现物象的神与气,在构图上,善于以横破纵,如直立的竹竿、顾盼有致的牡丹、悬垂的丝瓜,以鸟雀横飞穿插,处理枝干的疏密浓淡,使画面逸趣横生。
在当今国画界,擅画牡丹者为数不少。皆因牡丹本身被赋予美好的象征,民间众多的画师绘之以装点厅堂。于是,也就有了“雅士咏牡丹,民间画牡丹”之说。但以牡丹为题材的画作,通常被认为是“艳俗”之物。而魏克友作为洛阳市廛河区美术家协会常务理事,他画中的牡丹因其花朵硕大、色彩瑰丽、花姿雍容富贵,凸显摄人心魄的美,让得睹其画者莫不惊叹其笔墨,这得益于他年复一年地写生、揣摩、思索。他师法自然,借鉴古人,以传统水墨写意笔法入手,糅入水粉和水彩画的色彩明暗技巧,对牡丹画的创作进行了大胆的突破,所谓大俗大雅、雅俗共赏、皆可寻迹。
魏克友喜爱画竹,厅堂、憩园四季翠竹长青,对风雨阴晴中竹的态势美用心揣摩。笔墨技法师从郑板桥、石涛等历代画竹名家,沿着“外师造化,道法自然”之路坚持不懈走到今天。深厚的写实功力,再加上对水墨画多年的探索和实践,形成了自己清逸典雅、意蕴丰厚的艺术风格。他在题款形式上变化多端,不守成规,自然成趣,达到书佳、行款得体,画亦随之增色。《竹石图》中,浓墨写竹枝,焦墨渴笔写竹叶,飞白勾石,用笔豪宕纵逸。他的墨竹作品追摩郑板桥笔墨意蕴,将书法与画融在一起,形成了共同表现形象的特殊手法。用书法的形式,真草隶篆融为一体,代替了画石所需的皴法,产生了节奏美、韵律美,又恰到好处地表现了石头的立体感、肌理美,让人在观画时既享受到画境、诗境的美,又能享受到书法艺术的形式美。
