刘宝纯,1932年生于山东省荣成市,现为中国国家画院院委、研究员,山东省文联名誉主席,山东省美协名誉主席,山东画院名誉院长,一级美术师,美国休斯敦大学客座教授,美国帕沙迪娜艺术研究中心客座教授。历任中国画研究院院委,中国美协理事,山东省政协常委,山东画院院长,山东省文联副主席。

 刘宝纯从20世纪50年代开始,在师法前人的基础上,以自然为师,到三山五岳、长江黄河写生,在表现真山水方面,付出了艰苦努力,取得了显著成绩。他始终坚持继承传统的目的是求其发展、深入生活的目的是求其升华的理念,通过作品积极反映时代与生活的关系,是20世纪50年代以来,中国新山水画一派延续发展的重要代表,被称为德艺双馨的艺术家。为人民大会堂、中南海、天安门和毛主席纪念堂、中国驻外使馆等创作国画作品百余幅,作品《山高水长》由邓小平同志1978年访问日本时,赠送住友集团。作品《黄河花园口》参加百年中国画大展,并选入《百年中国画集》。人民美术出版社出版《中国近现代名家画集——刘宝纯》《中国近现代名家选粹——刘宝纯》。山东美术出版社出版《黄河》《海河》《淮河》三本合作写生画册,《刘宝纯访日写生画集》、《刘宝纯台湾写生画集》。天津杨柳青出版社出版《当代美术家画库——刘宝纯》画集。澳门文化局出版《刘宝纯画集》。中国美术家协会编《百年中国画展名家精品系列——刘宝纯》专辑。中华书局出版《刘宝纯诗集》。人民日报、中央电视台、日本NHK电视台、美国、台湾、澳门等多家媒体专题报道刘宝纯艺术成就。多次在中国美术馆及美国、日本、新西兰、新加坡、韩国、澳门、香港、台湾举办画展。

美国休斯敦市授予荣誉市民和亲善大使证书,德克萨斯州议会赠州旗,迪肯斯市将1994年1月27日定为“刘宝纯日”并赠证书和“市钥”。山东省政府以其建国以来在文化艺术工作中做出突出贡献,特给予通令嘉奖。两次授予省专业技术拔尖人才。享受国务院政府特殊津贴。获山东省首届泰山艺术奖（美术类）终生成就奖和山东省委省政府颁发的首届山东省泰山文艺奖——艺术突出贡献奖。

 Liu Baochun, born in Rongcheng City, Shandong Province in 1932, is currently the member and researcher of the Academy of Chinese National Painting, the honorary chairman of Shandong Artistic Association, the honorary chairman of Shandong Artistic Association, the honorary Dean of Shandong Painting Academy, the first-class artist, the visiting professor of Houston University and the visiting professor of Pasadena Art Research Center in the United States. He has successively served as the Academic Committee of the Academy of Chinese Painting Research, the Director of the Chinese Art Association, the Standing Committee of the Shandong CPPCC, the President of the Shandong Painting Academy, and the Vice-Chairman of the Shandong Literary Federation.

Since the 1950s, Liu Baochun has made strenuous efforts and made remarkable achievements in expressing real mountains and rivers, taking nature as his teacher, and painting on the three mountains, five mountains and the Yangtze and Yellow rivers on the basis of learning from his predecessors. He always adheres to the idea of inheriting tradition in order to develop and deepen life. His works actively reflect the relationship between the times and life. He is an important representative of the continuing development of Chinese new landscape painting since the 1950s and is known as an artist of both virtue and art. More than 100 Chinese paintings were created for the Great Hall of the People, Zhongnanhai, Tiananmen, Chairman Mao Memorial Hall and Chinese Embassies abroad. When Comrade Deng Xiaoping visited Japan in 1978, he presented Sumitomo Group with his work "Long Mountain, High Water". The work "Garden Pass of the Yellow River" participated in the 100-year exhibition of Chinese painting, and was selected into the 100-year Collection of Chinese Paintings. People's Fine Arts Publishing House publishes "Collection of Paintings of Chinese Modern and Modern Masters - Liu Baochun" and "Selection of Chinese Modern and Modern Masters - Liu Baochun". Shandong Fine Arts Publishing House publishes three cooperative sketch albums, Yellow River, Haihe and Huaihe, Liu Baochun's Visit to Japan and Liu Baochun's Taiwanese sketch album. Tianjin Yangliuqing Publishing House publishes a collection of paintings by Liu Baochun, a gallery of contemporary artists. The Macao Cultural Bureau publishes Liu Baochun's Paintings. The Chinese Artists Association compiled the album Liu Baochun, a series of famous artists in the 100-year Chinese Painting Exhibition. Liu Baochun's Collection of Poems was published by China Book Company. People's Daily, CCTV, Japan's NHK TV, the United States, Taiwan, Macao and other media reports on Liu Baochun's artistic achievements. Many exhibitions have been held in the Chinese Art Museum and in the United States, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, Korea, Macao, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Houston City of the United States confers honorary citizenship and goodwill ambassadorial certificates, Texas State Council presents state flags, and Dickens City designates January 27, 1994 as "Liu Bao Junri" with certificates and "City Key". The Shandong Provincial Government has made outstanding contributions to the cultural and artistic work since the founding of the People's Republic of China, and has given a special circular award. Provincial top-notch professional and technical personnel were awarded twice. Enjoy special allowances from the Government of the State Council. He won the first Taishan Art Award of Shandong Province (Art category) Lifetime Achievement Award and the first Taishan Literature and Art Award of Shandong Province - Art Outstanding Contribution Award issued by Shandong Provincial Government.
