邓福星，当代著名美术史论家、评论家、书画家和美术教育家。 

1945年生，河北省固安人，1968年毕业于天津师范学院（现天津师范大学）外语系，翌年入伍，1975年转业到天津工艺美术设计院创作室，1978年考入中国艺术研究院研究生班，师从王朝闻先生，1985年作为全国艺术学科大师兄获文学博士学位，后留院从事美术研究至退休。现为中国艺术研究院研究员，博士生导师，中国画学会副会长，享受国家特殊津贴。

曾任中国艺术研究院美术研究所所长、名誉所长，中国艺术研究院学术委员会副主任，先后任《美术观察》杂志社社长兼主编、《中国画学刊》主编，。曾社会兼职：文化部高职评委﹑全国美展评委﹑国家图书奖评委﹑中宣部“五个一工程”图书奖评委﹑全国艺术学科课题审定专家组成员、全国艺术类博士点审议评委、第五﹑六届全国文代会代表﹑第五届全国美协理事。

主要从事美术史论研究、美术评论及书画创作。硕士论文《绘画的抽象性》被评为1986年全国青年社会科学优秀论文，发表于中、英文版《中国社会科学》并入选《中国新文艺大系·理论卷》。博士论文《艺术前的艺术》提出“艺术起源与人类起源同步”的假说，在学术界产生较大影响，已为多种高校教材所引用。自1988年倡导的“美术学”被国家教委采纳，并逐步设立为艺术类一级学科。自1986年起，协助王朝闻先生主持国家六五、七五、八五重点科研项目12卷本《中国美术史》和14卷本《中国民间美术全集》的研究和编纂工作，历时十余年，两部书分别获2001年度全国艺术类图书一等奖和1999年中宣部“五个一工程”图书奖、中国艺术研究院特别成果奖以及国家首届社科基金项目一等奖。绘画及书法作品多次参加国内外重要展览。代表作品有《周总理永远和我们在一起》、《梅花欢喜漫天雪》、《五体千字文》等。

曾策划、主持多项全国及国际性美术展览和学术研讨会。自1983年以来，指导博士、硕士研究生及国内外访问学者二十余人，2013年受聘中国传媒大学邓福星花鸟画高研班导师、2015年受聘山东工艺美术学院“六艺学者”。1990年应邀赴美国加州大学伯克利、斯坦佛分校讲学。曾赴印度、西欧各国及俄罗斯、日本等国参加学术会议和学术考察。2004年先后在美国西雅图和法国留尼旺区举办画展并讲学。

2015年10月在山东济南举行了《2015全国美术学学科建设论坛暨邓福星美术学思想研讨会》 ，同时，《邓福星美术学研究述评》出版发行，该书收入65位专家学者评论邓福星美术学研究的文章。

 Deng Fuxing is a famous contemporary art historian, critic, calligrapher and painter and art educator. Born in Gu'an, Hebei Province, in 1945, he graduated from the Foreign Language Department of Tianjin Normal University in 1968. He enrolled in the army the following year, transferred to the Creation Room of Tianjin Institute of Arts and Crafts in 1975, and was admitted to the Graduate Class of China Academy of Arts in 1978. He was taught by Mr. Wang Chaowen and was awarded literature in 1985 as a national master of arts. Ph. D. degree, then stay in the college to engage in art research until retirement. He is now a researcher, doctoral supervisor of the Chinese Academy of Art and vice president of the Chinese Painting Society, and enjoys the special national allowance.

He was the director and honorary director of the Institute of Fine Arts of the Chinese Academy of Art, the vice director of the Academic Committee of the Chinese Academy of Art, the president and editor-in-chief of the magazine Art Observation and the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Chinese Painting. Mainly engaged in the study of art history, art criticism and painting creation. The master's thesis "The Abstraction of Painting" was awarded as a national outstanding thesis on Youth Social Sciences in 1986. It was published in the Chinese and English editions of "Chinese Social Sciences" and was included in the "New Department of Literature and Art in China, Theoretical Volume". The hypothesis of "the origin of art is synchronized with the origin of human beings" put forward in the doctoral dissertation "Art before art" has exerted a great influence in the academic circles and has been quoted in many university textbooks. Since 1988, the "fine arts" advocated by the State Education Commission has been adopted and gradually established as a first-level art discipline. Since 1986, he has assisted Mr. Wang Chaowen in the research and compilation of 12 volumes of History of Chinese Fine Arts and 14 volumes of Complete Works of Chinese Folk Fine Arts, which are the key scientific research projects of the Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Five-Year Plan of China. Over ten years, the two books have won the First Prize of National Art Books in 2001 and the "Five First Work" of the Central Propaganda Department in 1999. Cheng's Book Award, the Special Achievement Award of the Chinese Academy of Art and the First Prize of the National Social Science Foundation Project. Painting and calligraphy works have participated in many important exhibitions at home and abroad. His representative works include Premier Zhou's Always with us, Plum Blossom's Joy in Heaven and Snow, Five-Body Thousand-Character Text, etc.

He has planned and presided over many national and international art exhibitions and academic seminars. Since 1983, more than 20 doctors, master's degree students and visiting scholars at home and abroad have been appointed as supervisors of Deng Fuxing's Flower and Bird Painting Advanced Research Class in China Media University in 2013 and "Six Arts Scholars" in Shandong Institute of Arts and Crafts in 2015. In 1990, he was invited to give lectures at the University of California, Berkeley and Stanford. He has attended academic conferences and visits in India, Western European countries, Russia and Japan. In 2004, exhibitions and lectures were held in Seattle, USA and Reunion, France.

In October 2015, in Jinan, Shandong Province, "National Art Discipline Construction Forum 2015 and Deng Fuxing Art Thought Seminar" was held. At the same time, "Review of Deng Fuxing Art Research" was published and published. The book included 65 articles of experts and scholars commenting on Deng Fuxing's art research.
