日本二玄社初创于1953年，专门从事书法类图书的出版。1958年开始发行《书迹名品丛刊》，全208册，影响书坛至远。

七十年代初，为遂海内外学人和艺术家的心愿，台北“故宫博物院”委托世界著名出版机构日本东京二玄社，独家仿真复制其代表作四十多件。叶强对记者说，为了达到“划时代的复制效果”，日本二玄社的专家们历经二十多年试验，特地研制了一台长五米，高、宽各两米，重达三吨的硕大摄影机，进行同比例摄影、电脑制版和八至十二色的高精度印刷技术，选用特殊研制的纸和绢，故这些复制品逼真地反映了原件的面貌。

一九九六年，二玄社这批复制品曾在北京故宫博物馆展出，引起轰动。今次展出的近一百件“古代书画”，从尺寸、色调、纸绢质地到笔触、墨、古旧感都酷似原作，曾在全国七十多个省市巡展。

书画界人士认为，从欣赏、学习、临摹的角度看，这些复制品已胜过原作，海内外研究东方艺术史的专家亦给予高度评价，他们认为，日本东京二玄社这批复制品的问世，弥补了历史的遗憾。我国著名书画家和监定家启功曾说：“历经数百年乃至上千年后，原作多已损坏，至少色彩灰暗，早已失去了原有的风彩，这些复制品，都恢复了原作最初的色泽，简直整旧如新。

二玄社此一复制工程有划时代的意义，除了将历代名迹保存在复制当年 (1980、1990年代）的面貌，由于真迹将与时俱老，一百年之后，复制品将比真迹年轻，另方面，这些制作精良的故宫复制艺术品，更可以得以在个人住家中流传拥有，对中国艺术的推广自有其贡献。

迄1987年以前，二玄社又有《书道技法讲座》、《中国书论大系》、《中国篆刻丛刊》、《敦煌书法丛刊》、《原色法帖选》等大套书的发行，随着印书技术的不断提升，二玄社决定让《书迹名品丛刊》功成身退，另外精选中国书法史上最具代表性的书迹，于1987年十一月开始发售66本的《中国法书选》，一时之间，广受欢迎。

1989年台北蕙风堂经与二玄社联系，开始更紧密的合作关系。 1990年，二玄社代表人来台，与蕙风堂签订在台代理所出版书籍事宜，台北每年的国际书展并由蕙风堂规划并代表参展。

有人开玩笑说，二玄社的出版物优缺点都是那样明显，优点是它精良的制作印刷工艺，而它最大的缺点就是价格太贵。

 上海太一文化艺术有限公司是二玄社在中国大陆地区的代理。上海太一文化艺术有限公司自1996年成立以来，以弘扬中国古代书画文化为己任，每年在全国各大城市开展巡回展览。

Erxuan Society reproduces Chinese treasure-grade paintings and calligraphy, and mainly reproduces the rare large-frame paintings and calligraphy of Tang, Song and Yuan Dynasty collected by the Taipei Palace Museum, which ranks first among the major museums in the world. Its subtle restoring ability and superb production level can not be described by the words of "first-class authentic works". Because of the long history, most of these Chinese painting and calligraphy sites are gray and damaged, and glass protectors are needed to block the exhibition layer by layer, which makes the viewer feel itchy even when facing the authentic works. The duplicate of Erxuan Society not only subtly restores the changes of the original pen and ink, but also effectively repairs the damaged picture on the premise of guaranteeing the original style and spirit. In other words, these copies, in a sense, have even greater clarity and ornamentation than the original.

In the early 1970s, in order to fulfill the wishes of scholars and artists at home and abroad, Taipei "Palace Museum" entrusted the world-renowned publishing agency Erxuan Society in Tokyo, Japan, to exclusively simulate and reproduce more than 40 representative works. Ye Qiang told reporters that in order to achieve "epoch-making reproduction effect", after more than 20 years of experimentation, Japanese experts from Erxuan Society specially developed a huge camera with a length of five meters, a height of two meters and a width of two meters, and a weight of three tons. They carried out the same proportion photography, computer plate-making and high-precision printing technology of eight to twelve colors with special selection. The paper and silk manufactured specially reflect the original vividly.

In 1996, the replicas of Erxuan Society were displayed at the Palace Museum in Beijing, causing a sensation. Nearly one hundred "ancient paintings and calligraphy" on display, from size, tone, paper and silk texture to brush strokes, ink and antiquity, are similar to the original works. They have been exhibited in more than 70 provinces and cities throughout the country.

People in the field of calligraphy and painting believe that from the perspective of appreciation, learning and copying, these duplicates have surpassed the original works. Experts at home and abroad who study the history of Oriental Art also give high praise. They believe that the publication of these duplicates by the Erxuan Society in Tokyo, Japan, has made up for the regret of history. Qigong, a famous Chinese painter and calligrapher and regulator, once said, "After hundreds of years or even thousands of years, the original works have been damaged, at least the color is gray, and they have lost their original colors. These reproductions have restored the original color and luster, and are almost as old as new.

This reproduction project of Erxuan Society is of epoch-making significance. In addition to preserving historical monuments to reproduce the face of that year (1980, 1990's), as authentic works will grow old, after 100 years, the reproductions will be younger than authentic ones. On the other hand, these well-made palace reproductions of art can be more middle-class in personal homes. It has its own contribution to the promotion of Chinese art.

Until 1987, Erxuan Society had issued a series of books, such as "Lectures on Calligraphy Techniques", "China Calligraphy Series", "China Seal Carving Series", "Dunhuang Calligraphy Series", "Selection of Primary Colour Calligraphy Ties". With the continuous improvement of printing technology, Erxuan Society decided to let "Calligraphy Series" succeed and retire, and select China carefully. The most representative handwriting in the history of calligraphy began to sell 66 volumes of Selected Calligraphy of Chinese Calligraphy in November 1987. It was very popular for a while.

In 1989, Huifeng Tang Jing in Taipei contacted Erxuan Society and began to cooperate more closely. In 1990, Erxuan Club representatives came to Taiwan and signed a book publishing agency with Huifeng Tang. The annual International Book Fair in Taipei was planned and represented by Huifeng Tang.
