佛经中讲：六字大明咒之利益及功德非常大，持六字大明咒，可以消除病苦、刑罚、非时死之恐惧、寿命增加、财富充盈，即使命终之时，通往下道组诸门亦得而封闭，得以人、天之神受生，接触佛法，功德利益，不可胜数。

藏传佛教“三怙主”中的观音像为四臂观音像。四臂观音，藏语称“奇木格”，在藏传佛教寺院壁画、雕塑中常见的四臂观音有两种相状：寂静像和忿怒像。

忿怒相四臂观音造像呈蓝身色，共四头，分两层呈下三头上一头排列组合，四头色相各异，上一头为灰色，下层左为红色，中为蓝色，右为白色，有四臂，各持月刀、骷髅碗、水瓶和匕首。
