曾来德先生，四川省蓬溪县人。1956年生，1973年入伍，现为国家一级美术师，中国国家画院副院长、书法篆刻院执行院长、院艺委会委员，中国书法家协会理事、教育委员会主任，北京大学客座教授，世界华商书画院院长。1980年代初拜著名书法家胡公石先生为师，研究今人的审美，融进时代精神并创造自己的书法风格。他不但是一位书法大家，也是一位能独辟蹊径的山水画大家，在国内外产生广泛影响。先后在中国美术馆、上海、江苏、武汉、西安、成都、合肥、沈阳、郑州、深圳、山东等地美术馆博物馆举办“曾来德书画艺术展览”，引起社会各界的广泛关注，被书坛誉为“曾来德书法文化现象”、“书坛奇才”、“曾来德书法文本”等。2005年在英国大英博物馆举办“曾来德书法艺术展览”和“墨乐”东西方文化高峰对话系列活动，以及随后的“墨乐”北欧四国之行在国际上引起了强烈反响，书法作品《鸥鹭》，山水画作品《天地之象》被大英博物馆收藏。2011年11月，曾来德先生的“墨乐巴黎”系列文化活动在法国国家议会宫、法国中国文化交流中心等地举办，又有了新的突破。充分彰显了中国古老文化的艺术魅力以及现代价值和生命活力。
已出版的有《曾来德书法作品集》、《曾来德现代书法作品集》、《墨许山河—曾来德书法艺术●双重变奏》《墨许山河—曾来德书法艺术●山水四季》以及《写无尽书》、《曾来德谈艺录》、《书法的立场》、《横竖有理-曾来德文集》、《书法之诗、水墨之诗》等专著。
曾来德是以大胆探索现代书法并取得重要成就而著称的当代书法家。他的创作延续了晚清以来的碑学传统，以民间书法为取法资源，同时吸收西方视觉艺术构成理论和日本现代派书法的创作理念，试图以书法造型艺术表达当代人的审美体验与追求。他的作品以惊世骇俗的用笔、用墨和构图突破常规，具有强大的视觉冲击力和审美张力，成为现代派书法的代表之一。本卷所收作品高度浓缩地反映出曾来德在现代书法开拓上的成就与勇气。
事迹年表
1985年团中央授予曾来德同志“全国新长征突击手称号”。
1986年八一电影制片厂摄制曾来德书法电影纪录片《军中墨客》，并被国家文化部作为中外文化交流影片译制成英、法、德、俄、日、西班牙等七种语言向世界各地发行。
1989年首次在中国美术馆举办个人书法展。
1992年书法艺术成就被摄入大型电视艺术系列片《上下五千年》。
1995年被载入美国《世界名人录》。
1996年被载入英国剑桥大学《世界名人录》。
1999年在北京创办曾来德艺术中心。
2000年出席“世界和平文化盛典学术讨论会”。
2002年随国家专家团出访法国出席中法文化交流年大型文化交流活动，同年中国文联、中国书协授予“德艺双馨”书法家称号。
2003年主持文化部纪念毛泽东诞辰110周年“伟人毛泽东书法艺术大型学术讨论会”。
2003年启动21世纪国家文化教育工程“回到母校——曾来德书法艺术百所高校巡展”，并在北京大学举行首展。
2005年6月18日在英国大英博物馆举办“曾来德书法艺术展览”以及“墨乐”专场和东西方文化高峰对话的系列活动，在国际上引起了强烈反响。书法作品《欧鹭》，山水画作品《天地之象》被大英博物馆收藏。
2005年12月在中国美术馆举办“众妙之门”曾来德中国墨艺术展。书法手卷《李白诗》，现代书法作品《澄怀》被中国美术馆收藏。
2006年4月由台湾录制出版第一首中国书法流行音乐“写字狂”并向海内外发行。
2006年6月由香港凤凰卫视《文化大观园》录制曾来德书法艺术成就大型主题片，并向全球播出。
2007年9月代表国家率领“墨乐”代表团出席北欧中国文化艺术节，分别在芬兰、挪威、瑞典等国国家博物馆和国家剧场举办“曾来德书画艺术展”及“墨乐”演示专场，引起国际文化艺术界的震动。
2008年被文化部评为“文化部优秀专家”。
2009年7月在中国美术馆举办“墨许山河”曾来德山水四季画展。
2011年5月被全国青少年发展基金会授予“中非希望工程共同主席”和“中非慈善大使”。
2011年赴法国的“墨乐巴黎”系列活动又受到高度赞誉。
