胡笳（1910-1979）原籍浙江镇海，出生于上海。曾就读上海美专，并进入「白鹅画会」向创办人之一的潘思同学画。1935年从军，任步校绘图工作，转战各地的写生稿极多，同时也不时发表各地的抗战事蹟与乡间小景的画稿。此次展出的作品〈贵州遵义大桥〉（1938）、〈还乡人的心情〉（1935）与〈冬阳〉（1941）都是此类作品。1950年后胡笳来台定居台北土城，1955年转任复兴美工、文化美术系与淡江建筑等校。由于早年向潘思同习画的影响，因此画风也接近英国的传统形式，间接影响了台湾下一代水彩的风格。他早期作画时会刻意留下底稿素描的线条，再以平涂、缝合法快速的完成透明性极高的作品，画面也留下有趣的空白区域。后期在台湾的作品则构图更加紧密，并逐步使用较多的渲染与重叠的画法。
