田金铎，河北束鹿人。1955年进入鲁迅美术学院雕塑系学习，毕业后留校任教。1963年中央美术学院研究班毕业，回鲁迅美术学院雕塑系任教，历任雕塑系副主任、主任。中国美术家协会雕塑艺术委员会委员，中国雕塑学会第一、二届常务理事、顾问，全国城市雕塑艺术委员会第一、二届委员。1991年荣获国际奥林匹克委员会“体育与艺术奖”，同年享受国务院颁发的特殊贡献津贴。1997年被鲁迅美术学院授予“终身教授”。2009年荣获“辽宁省文艺事业终身成就奖”。
田金铎从事雕塑创作与教学工作60余年，取得了较高的造诣和丰硕的成果，不仅为我国雕塑事业的发展和繁荣作出了突出贡献，更培养出一大批雕塑人才，可谓硕果累累、桃李满天下。
从事教学工作之余，田金铎全身心投入毕生钟爱的雕塑创作之中，对所塑造的对象进行高度提炼、加工和再创造，并不断进行雕塑艺术语言的探索创新，以丰富的生活阅历、深厚的艺术修养和坚实的造型能力塑造了许多脍炙人口的经典而永恒的作品，如《稻香千里》《彭德怀在朝鲜》《采油女工》《努尔哈赤骑马像》《走向世界》《弯道》《老北京纪实》《辛亥风云》《走向世界》《女娲补天》《辛亥风云》等。1966年还参加中国美术家协会组织的在中国美术馆复制泥塑《收租院》。
