余白墅,现代版画家。1920年生,浙江慈溪人。1936年在上海学习木刻。抗战开始后参加部队的艺术工作。1939年在浙江宁波与依黎等组织木刻研究会。1942年与荒烟到赣南推动木刻运动,曾主编木刻漫画刊物多种。1946年回上海,参与筹备抗战八年木刻展的工作。

艺术家余白墅简介

余白墅,现代版画家。1920年生,浙江慈溪人。1936年在上海学习木刻。抗战开始后参加部队的艺术工作。1939年在浙江宁波与依黎等组织木刻研究会。1942年与荒烟到赣南推动木刻运动,曾主编木刻漫画刊物多种。1946年回上海,参与筹备抗战八年木刻展的工作。50年代以后从事美术编辑工作,曾任职于大众美术出版社、上海人民美术出版社。代表作品有《晚归》等。余白墅1920年12月3日出生于浙江慈溪市桥头镇(原属余姚县桥头乡)。曾任大众美术出版社、新美术出版社、上海人民美术出版社、上海书画出版社编辑部主任、编委、编审、顾问等职。现为中国美术家协会会员、中国版画家协会会员、上海版画会顾问等。1991年9月中国美术家协会、中国版画家协会为表彰30、40年代在中国新兴版画事业中有贡献的版画家,授于他“新兴版画纪念奖”。
自幼酷爱绘画。1934年就读于上海澄衷中学时,开始漫画创作,作品发表于《东方漫画》等刊物上。1936年受到鲁迅先生倡导的新兴木刻运动的影响,就习木刻,得到版画家陈烟桥、罗清桢的指导。《无家可归》、《苦力》等木刻作品发表在上海报刊上,并收入《全国抗战版画集》。为推动木刻运动,1939年在宁波与依黎等组织木刻研究会,主编《救亡木刻》期刊。与漫画家张鸿飞合作抗日漫画集《怒潮》。1940至1945年期间,在江西、福建、浙江等地多次举办个人木刻展览。1942年8月2日与荒烟为筹募中国木刻研究会及中国木刻工场基金,在江西赣南博物馆举行木刻展览会。并与张乐平陆志庠梁永泰、朱鸣岗等多次举办联合画展。这一时期创作了不少反映劳工与农民生活的木刻作品,如《收获》、《晚归》、《老工人》、《牧童》、《铁路工人》、《磨坊》、《贫病》、《逃亡的人们》、《起来!不愿做奴隶的人们》等,其中有的作品收入《抗战八年木刻选集》。在这期间前后主编《木刻艺术》、《新艺风》、《木刻与漫画》、《木刻画刊》等刊物多种,还在报刊上发表了不少美术评论文章,并编著出版了《木刻技法点滴》一书。1946年在上海参与筹备“抗战八年木刻展览会”,负责展出工作。这个展览,先在上海、杭州展出,后又赴日本、英国、比利时等国展出。同年选为中华全国木刻协会监事,后为理事,担任协会所办的木刻函授班导师,并参加了上海美术家协会。上海解放前夕,在白色恐怖下,主编大型《木刻》画集出版。这时期创作的木刻作品有《童工》、《牧马》、《走!》、《抓壮丁》等,在日本、苏联等国展览。1949年上海解放后,选为中华全国美术工作者协会上海分会委员,并任编辑出版部副部长,参与编辑《解放漫画选集》等十余种。又为上海木刻研究会理事。此时,几乎每日创作漫画多幅,又创作版画作品,以及撰写美术评论文章,发表在上海《解放日报》等各大报刊上,这些漫画等作品大多收入出版的各种画集中。又与版画家徐甫堡合作了一本《白毛女》连环画,1949年6月出版,并在《新闻日报》上每日连载。1959年为配合现代中国版画展在国外展出,扩大影响,以供国外读者的需要,与版画家吕蒙同志一起编辑了60多位国内著名版画家的版画作品,照原作大小用珂王罗版、锌版与胶印结合,以宣纸等彩色精印装裱出版,由中国国际书店发行国外,受到欢迎与好评;也得到不少作者的好评,如赖少其同志等认为印制作品与他们的原作相比难以区别,纷纷多次来信索取样张,他们当原作赠送友人。其间,又编辑了“现代木刻水印画”成套画册多种,余白墅的木刻水印作品多幅也收入其中。近年来,版画作品《晚归》、《牧童》、《鸭司令》等在日本、法国、英国等多次展出,作品收入《中国新兴版画五十年选集》等多种,以及日本近代美术馆、国际版画美术馆编印出版的《中国现代版画展》等画册中。多幅版画作品被中国美术馆、江苏省美术馆、上海美术馆及日本近代美术馆等收藏。从艺小传已被收入出版的《中国当代文艺名人辞典》、《中国当代书画家名人大辞典》、《世界现代美术家辞典》、《世界华人艺术家成就博览大典》多种书籍。
