阎秉会，毕业于天津美术学院，现任该院国画系副教授。多次参加国内外重要的书法和现代水墨画展，如1985年“中国首届现代书法展”（北京），1987年“中国现代书法展”（东京），1990年“中国现代书法大奖赛”（北京），1989年“中国现代艺术大展”（北京），1990年“中国现代水墨画展览”（东京），1995年“张力与表现现代水墨联展”（北京），1996年“重返家园——中国当代实验水墨艺术联展”（美国旧金山），1998年“笔墨——中国现代水墨艺术展”（瑞典），“98上海双年展”，深圳第二、三届国际水墨双年展，2001年“水墨本色展”（北京）等。还于天津举办个展。作品被日本东京大田区美术馆、上海美术馆、香港艺术馆、广东美术馆等收藏。出版有《阎秉会书法》、《黑白史——阎秉会专辑》、《秉会》以及诗集《俗禅》。
