沈默，原名沈耀琳，1938年生于福建诏安。1960年毕业于厦门工艺美术学校并留校任教，1974年从福建诏安移居香港。中国美术家协会会员，中国华侨大学客座教授，香港中文大学专业进修学院国画导师，香港福建书画研究会副会长。
1999年，沈默创作的《建国五十周年庆》入选第九届全国美展并获优秀奖，《一百零八罗汉图》同时入选第九届全国美展。2010年应邀为中央人民政府驻香港特别行政区联络办公室创作《和谐颂》，2012年《和平盛世》参加“2012（伦敦）奥林匹克美术大展”。
