杨晓村，侗族，1944年生于湖南芷江县。1968年毕业于中南民族学院，1980年进修于中央民族大学美术系。现为广西师范大学美术系教授，广西美协中国画艺委会委员，中国美术家协会会员。
1989年台湾三原色艺术中心举办个人画展。
1994年《残佛》系列参加台湾省立美术馆《中国现代水墨展》。
1995年《禾晾》参力口第八届全国美术作品展览。
1997年《乡育图》参加全国首届中国画人物画展。
1998年《眸魔》参加首届深圳水墨双年展。《崖下》参力口世界华人书画展。
2000年《老寨悠悠》参加第六届中国艺术节国际水墨画展(常熟)。
2000年《远塬》入选国务院新闻办委托五洲传播出版社出版的建国50周年中国画明信片。
2002年《西藏——天域之声》个人画展在泰国曼谷唐人画廊举行。《崖上山火棘》入选毛主席《在延安文艺座谈会上的讲话》发表60周年全国美展。

作品为多家美术馆收藏，作品及论文曾发表于《江苏画刊》、《文星》、(台湾)、《中国当代水墨画集》(韩国》、《中国当代艺术史》(1979—1989)、《国画家》、《民族画报》、《美术界》、《书与画》；作品入编：《人体黑白装饰画集》、《中国现代肖像线描精选》、《今日中国美术》等。《守望家园》组画入选傅抱石奖南京水墨画传媒三等奖。《中国美术家协会艺术家图册——美术家扬小村》出版。《教子图》收入《中国人物画百家》。
