苗地山西河曲人，擅长漫画。作品多次获新闻漫画奖、美协漫画艺委会“金猴奖”。出版有《中国十八人漫画书系苗地卷》、《苗地漫画集》、《苗地漫画选》、《四格漫画选》等。
苗地毕业于山西大学文学院教育系，后入华北大学美术系、中央美术学院美术干部训练班，1950年毕业后在《人民日报》文艺部美术组工作。历任助理编辑、编辑、高级编辑。在《人民日报》等全国报刊发表大量讽刺画，漫画、风俗画、舞蹈速写、插图等作品。1979年《人民日报》创刊《讽剌与幽默》担任编辑委员。中国美协漫画艺委会委员、中国新闻漫画研究会顾问，享受政府特殊津贴。
