于安澜(1902—1999.8)，原名海晏，字安澜，后以字行，男，汉族，河南滑县人。先后求学于河南汲县省立十二中学，中州大学预科继入该校中文系，毕业后任师范学校教师年余，后考入北京私立燕京大学研究院专攻文学、声韵学。1949年后定居开封，执教于河南大学。自幼喜忌书法，初学颜真卿、柳公权、董其昌楷书，继而倾心于苏、黄、米、蔡诸家，后专攻篆书。所作法度谨严，清逸古雅。作品多次在国内外展出，被收入作品专集或在《书法》杂志、《书法报》等发表，为博物馆、纪念馆收藏或碑刻。著述甚丰，擅长中国画史，主要有《汉魏六朝韵谱》《画品丛考》《画论丛刊》《画史丛书》第一辑、《书学名著选》《历代书法源流表》等。亦擅国画，以山水见长，兼作花鸟。生前为中国书法家协会会员，中国美术家协会会员，历任平原师范学院教授、河南大学中文系教授。
于安澜先生1902年生于河南省滑县牛屯镇鸭固集村。名海晏，字安澜，后以字行。
他的父亲是当地的一个士绅，比较重视文化教育，在家延师教读。于先生的启蒙教师是当地很有名气的老秀才，主要讲授四书五经。后又请一提倡新学的教师讲授数学、历史、地理、格致等课程，中西并进，使先生从小就受到了良好的基础教育。1920年，他考入省立卫辉中学。入学不久，便以才思敏捷、擅长诗文而得到国文教师范文澜先生的赏识，经常将其作文装入镜框，悬挂教室之中让同学们学习。当时中学学制为四年，在卫辉中学的八个学期中，他七次成绩名列年级第一。因此，1924年毕业时被保送到河南大学的前身——中州大学文史系学习。
进入大学后，他在学业上得到了冯友兰、郭绍虞、嵇文甫、董作宾等诸多名师的悉心指导，先后阅读了张之洞的《书目问答》、《四库全书总目纲要》，梁启超的《要籍题解》等书，掌握了打开古代文献宝库的钥匙，并由此研读了大量的古代文献和学术著作，初步认识到清代乾嘉学派讲究训诂考据，实事求是的朴学作风，寻找到一条研究语言文字和从事古籍整理的治学之路。这期间他还认真圈点了《说文解学》、《尔雅》和《方言》等书。六年的大学生活（其中预科两年）使他开拓了视野，明确了方向，为他一生的学术研究奠定了雄厚坚实的基础。
他还是一个热爱生活、兴趣广泛的人。幼年时他就喜欢绘画，总跟在他的表兄（当地一民间画家）后面看其作画。中学期间，美术教师仝伯高先生很赏识他的绘画天赋，经常让他为之代笔给人画扇面。到了大学之后，繁重的学业并未削弱他对绘画的兴趣，他发起成立美术研究会，并被推选为负责人，课余之时绘画、治印，他还兼任开封现代中学的美术教师。当上海暨南大学美术系主任陶冷月先生来校访问讲学时，他专程登门求教，聆听陶先生的指点，绘画技能提高很快。他还和同学一起参加开封文化界的文学社团——衡门诗社，与老前辈一道作诗填词，交流心得。为了活跃单调的校园生活，同时也是出于对戏曲的热爱，他和同学们组织了业余豫剧团，并粉墨登场，扮演角色。他还为剧团起了个考究的名字——巴剧社，意为通俗地方剧社。
1930年冬，于先生修完学分，从河南大学毕业。1931年春受聘于信阳省立第三师范学校任教。后因病回乡。1932年春又应约到豫北沁阳省立第十三中学教书。当时正值军阀混战，炮火连天，狼烟遍地，他目睹这种混乱的时局，每每发出忧国忧民之慨叹：
画角荒城动客哀，百无聊赖强登台。
世成蛮触多戎马，运入红羊遍劫灾。
悲乱空吟庾信赋，伤时每悔杜陵才。
湖山春色明如画，忍见旌旄遍野开。

1932年夏，他以优异成绩考入北平燕京大学研究院国学研究所读研究生，实现了他继续深造的愿望。
燕京大学是美国教会开办的一所学校（校址即现在的北京大学），校园环境幽雅，藏书丰富，名师众多，是一个读书、研究的好地方。在这里，于先生在诸多国学大师的教诲下，潜心于古代汉语、古音韵学、古文字学的研究。第一年，就写出了他的处女作《诗学总论》，该项成果获1933年河南省教育厅颁发的甲等学术奖金400元。此后，他又转入了《汉魏六朝韵谱》的撰写，1934年下半年完成初稿，再次获本年度河南省教育厅颁发的学术奖金600元。1935年该书稿撰写完毕，交中华印书局印刷出版，填补了古音韵史研究方面的一段空白。燕京大学非常重视这一研究成果，在于先生毕业之前，特发给他500元奖金以资鼓励。这项奖金是由美国哈佛大学资助的，又叫哈佛奖学金。这次奖励的仅有4人，于先生名列第一。
1936年5月，《汉魏六朝韵谱》三册一函正式出版发行，在学术界引起很大反响。著名语言学家如钱玄同、刘盼遂、闻在宥、王力等纷纷著文称道。钱玄同先生以信代序云：“忽睹大著，此国音史上最无办法讲述之一段，先生竟竭数载之力，一一为之疏通证明……先生对古音之贡献，多发前人所未发，弟真欢喜赞叹，莫可名状！”刘盼遂先生在序中说：“求其资料周遍，缉撰密察，而褒然鸿帙，盖有未能如安澜是书者也！”闻在宥先生在序中亦评赞道：“安澜之为此，其思周力果，有为他人所不易逮者。章节之分合，韵部之出入，文字之异同，作者之真赝，辩论往复，稿草屡易，务当于心而后已，此其艰苦，读者或不尽知也。”王力先生在当年9月17日的天津《大公报·图书副刊》上发表书评指出：“韵部分合表，以侵真分立，界限显然与鄙意正相符合。此外蒸登分立、职德分立，其偶然通用者视为例外，都是很合理的。……三期之分，尤见恰当，如能再加董理，将成传世之作。”这本书是于先生的成名之作，也是中国音韵史上的开创性著作之一，它丰富了祖国的语言学宝库，并产生了国际影响。日本的汲古书院1970年将此书影印发行。1989年，此书经过重新校勘后，由河南人民出版社再版，至今仍为中古音韵研究的必读之书。
继《汉魏六朝韵谱》之后，中华印书局又约请于先生再著艺术类新书。于先生凭借他深厚的文史研究基础和对美术理论的浓厚兴趣，在收集大量画论资料的基础上，精心整理、认真考订，将54种历代论画著作以时代先后进行编排，并附有相关背景资料和校勘记。经过一年多的苦干，1937年6月，他的第二部著作《画论丛刊》一函六册出版问世。此书的出版，受到美术界的欢迎。著名画家齐白石和萧谦中分别为此书题写书名和设计封面，著名美术史论家余越园和郑午昌分别为此书作序，称此书：“兹编所辑虽广，而抉择矜慎，实为从来丛刊所未有。得此一编，于古今画学理论之源流与其要旨灿备无遗，洵可为后学之津逮矣。”“安澜先生博学多艺，既著《韵谱》，乃辑《画论》……述前启后，其有功于艺林又何如！”著名画家黄宾虹先生和南京美院俞剑华先生亦对《画论》的问世交口称赞。1957年，北京人民美术出版社再版了此书，1960年、1989年又多次重印，1978年，香港中华书局将此书翻印，风行于东南亚各国。
正当他在事业上步入鼎盛之时，1937年7月7日，芦沟桥事变爆发。北平、天津相继沦陷。他想南下归乡，无奈交通中断，只得滞留北平。为了糊口，他到北平汇文中学任教。课余时间，仍致力于古籍的整理研究。他将在大学时期下功夫圈点过的《说文解字》翻检出来，打破原来的编排体例，从检索方便实用出发，把原部首表意相近者类聚在一起，并以出土的甲骨金文可订证《说文》解说者，皆予以注出，由此成《〈说文解字〉分类简编》一书。此外，为了高三学生阅读之便，他还特意精选出清代以前在文学史上有影响的一百位名家的传记，详加标点，注明出处，划分时代，冠以叙论，名为《历代文学家传选》，由校方排印后发给学生使用，颇受好评。
1939年暑假，京汉铁路通车，他辞去了汇文中学的工作，返回故里。后在滑县联中任教直至抗战胜利。
1946年，应河南大学之邀，于先生回母校任教。1948年，他随河大南迁苏州。一年后，开封解放，他又随河大返汴。
1949年9月，他参加了学校组织的政治学习，进行思想改造。在接下来的业务改造中，由于学校精简课程，于先生所学专业一时无用武之地，便被学校解聘。这以后，他先后应聘到武汉教育学院和新乡平原师范学院任教。1955年院系调整，他又重返开封师范学院中文系，从此，这里就成为他后半生的归宿。
1957年以后，政治运动频繁。于先生也受到不公正待遇。系里不给他安排课程，让他在资料室工作。对此，于先生并不计较，他认为这是一个读书、做学问的好机会，于是静下心来，开始在这里实施他的研究写作计划。
他首先着手于《画史丛书》的编纂工作。历时七年，共搜集有关画史专著22种，汇集从南北朝至近代著名画家的传略，并详加校勘和标点，1963年由上海美术出版社出版。两函十册，印制精美考究。1970年台湾曾翻印出版此书，日本也出版了《画论丛书》、《画史丛书》的精装日译本。1984年，上海美术出版社又遵从于先生的意见，将此书改印为5册平装本，以方便普通读者。
《画史丛书》出版后，于先生又开始了他计划中的下一本美术史论著——《画品丛书》的资料搜集整理工作，并拟定了《诗学类编》、《古书文字易解》和《典范语言类编》的编写计划。
1966年，文化大革命开始，于先生也在劫难逃，被打成“反动学术权威”，游街、批斗、写检查、劳动改造，备受煎熬。但是，这种非人的待遇并未动摇于先生对学术研究的执著追求。70年代初，对“臭老九”的批判已不那么激烈，他也不再是批判斗争的重点对象。已近古稀之年的他便抓紧时间，重操旧业，在家中又开始了他的研究编写工作。不论是炎夏酷暑，还是数九严寒，他都笔耕不辍。这期间，他与书法界的一些老朋友如武慕姚、陈玉璋、牛光甫等也开始恢复交往，一些中青年书法爱好者也开始登门求教。开封市文化馆成立了书学会，邀请于先生去授课，他欣然前往，并为学生编写了《书学名著选》，由文化馆印制后发给大家使用。
1976年，粉碎了“四人帮”，万物复苏，于先生也迎来了他学术研究上的春天。他又登上了久违的讲台，向学生讲授古代汉语和古文字课。1983年，他开始招收研究生，为文字、训诂、音韵诸方面培养高层次的专业人才。因为于先生在多个学科领域都有建树，其学术影响波及海内外，所以他的各种学术活动亦开始增多。他应邀先后参加了中国训诂学会、中国音韵学会、中国美术家协会、中国书法家协会，并担任了中国训诂学会、中国音韵学会、河南省语言学会、河南省美术家协会、河南省书法家协会等学术团体的顾问。1984年出任河南大学古籍整理研究所所长。
于先生在授课之余，将封存笥多年、凝聚着他大量心血的书稿整理出来，送交出版社出版。1982年，上海美术出版社出版了他的《画品丛书》，由著名画家刘海粟题写书名，此书辑录了从南北朝至元代记录画迹的著作13种，并详加标点和校勘，与先此出版的《画论丛刊》、《画史丛书》构成一个整体。成为整理发掘中国画学遗产的重要成果，具有很高的学术价值，被高等美术院校定为必读的参考书。
1989年，河南人民出版社再版了他经过修订校勘的《汉魏六朝韵谱》。1992年，四川人民出版社出版了他的《诗学辑要》。此书把历代诗论的精粹按体裁、源流、作法进行了分类考订。由赵朴初先生为之题写书名。当今著名学者黄天骥、詹福瑞对此书给予了很高的评价。同年，河南大学出版社出版了他的《古书文字易解》，由王力先生题写书名，书中广泛搜集摘录了古书中有特殊用法的文字，按照形、音、义分为三编，每编又分为若干类，每字后又列出辞例，使读者循此以了解字形的演变、声韵的通假、词义的发展等，从而排除青年人阅读古书的障碍。他还组织研究生和青年教师在他原有资料的基础上整理编写出《历代典范语言类编》一书，指导年轻人走学术研究之路。经过几十年的沉寂，于先生又迎来了他事业上的第二次丰收。1985年，他赋诗以明志：

1986年，于先生离休。他“不愿余年随流水”，人虽离岗，仍心系学术，心系弘扬先哲、弘扬优秀的民族文化。他离休后，不顾年已八十有五，仍不辞劳苦，到处奔波，倡议纪念河南的文化先哲。他的倡导受到省委领导和有关各地市领导的高度重视，十几年来，河南先后建成了许慎墓祠和许慎纪念馆、画圣吴道子纪念馆、张衡纪念馆、张仲景纪念馆、花木兰纪念馆等。他还在书坛辛勤耕耘，为社会各界的书法爱好者写下了大量的书法作品，而从不收一分钱的“润笔”。1992年，在他九十寿辰的时候，河南大学和中文系特地为他举办了九十华诞盛典，以表彰他几十年来对我国的文化教育事业做出的重要贡献。
1993年夏，于先生患病住院。1999年8月16日，于先生终因心力衰竭，医治无效而逝世，享年98岁
