四川达县人。笔名水登，中共党员、中国美术家协会会员、中国书画家协会会员、国家高级美术师
1946年至1949年先后就读于重庆盘溪国立艺专（现中国美术学院）、西南美专和健生艺专。
1949年任《西南青年》美术编辑；1955年任《四川青年报》美术组长；1962年后历任《科学与艺术报》主编；绵阳市文联副秘书长；市美协主席；绵阳市书画院二级美术师。中共党员、中国美术家协会会员、中国书画家协会会员、国家高级美术师。其作品在国际、国家级画展中多次展出。

2002年水彩画《悠悠岁月》入选《纪念毛主席延安文艺座谈会讲话发表60周年全国美术作品展》获优秀作品奖（与林山合作）。
2002年中国画《竹鸡图》入选《当代中国画名家精品东欧展》在匈亚利布达佩斯国家艺术馆首展，该作品被曼谷中国画院收藏。
多件作品入选四川省美术作品展，有九件作品荣获四川省优秀作品奖。
