1959年出生于陕西蒲城。1978年入伍，1991年被授予上尉军衔。在部队因业余美术创作突出，两次荣立三等功，1991年被解放军三总部树为全军自学成才标兵，2002年从部队转业自主择业。1990年毕业于云南艺术学院美术系版画专业。中国美术家协会会员、中国版画家协会会员、四川省美术家协会版画艺术委员会副主任、四川省美协理事。

从事绘画创作30余年，其作品先后多次入选全国、全军美展，在全国及省级以上报刊发表作品达200余幅，入编《中国当代美术全集》、《中国水印版画》、《中国人民解放军美术作品精品选》、《21世纪中国黑白木刻》等数十种大型画册。

作品分别被中国美术馆、炎黄艺术馆、神州版画博物馆、江苏美术馆、华茂美术馆、西南大学等机构收藏。

多年来兼从事影视美术工作，先后参加33部影视作品的美术工作。代表作有《雪震》、《天路》、《大渡桥横铁索寒》、《突出重围》、《DA师》等。先后荣获第七届、第十七届全军电视剧“金星奖”。
