廖开明(1940.10—)，四川重庆人。著名版画家，民间美术评论家，现代民间绘画奠基人。1958年考入中国青年艺术剧院，从事舞台美术工作并致力于版画创作。1983年调中国美术馆工作。原中国民间美术博物馆筹备办公室主任，副研究馆员。中国美术家协会会员、中国版画家协会会员。历任中国青年艺术剧院舞台美术设计，中国民间艺术博物馆筹备办公室副主任，中国美术馆画廊主任。近年致力于现代民间绘画的征集、展出工作。1985年曾赴美国访问。有的作品被中外博物馆、美术馆及收藏家收藏。还从事对中国民间美术的发掘、收藏、研究等工作。编大型画集《中国现代民间绘画》，撰写论文数十篇在国内外发表。参与组织策划《首届中国艺术节美术展览》等各类美术展览数十个在国内外陈列、展览。应邀赴美国、前苏联、保加利亚、日本、奥地利、意大利等国进行考察、展览及艺术学术交流活动。作品和艺术简历被载入《中国现代版画史》、《中国新兴版画五十年选集》、《中国古代版画与新兴版画》、《中国现代美术全集（版画卷）》、《美术辞林（版画卷）》。多次被选入英国、印度出版的《世界名人录》。
作品有《春天》、《竹乡》、《浪花——花心!》等。木刻《春天》、《果山秋景》、《打谷场上》均为中国美术馆收藏。《春天》参加在日本举办的中国现代版画展，又被日本“中国版画会”和神奈川近代美术博物馆收藏。
