1964年毕业西南师范大学美术专业，毕业后从事中高等美术教育教学工作，教学教研成绩显著。曾任四川省学校艺术教育委员会委员，重庆文理学院美术系主任，副教授。在绘画方面，有着扎实的西画写实功底和娴熟的中国画传统表现技巧，把西画的写实风格融入中国画的人物画、山水画之中，形成了自己的写实风格。艺术实践中主张“外师造化，中法心源”，以自然万象为表现内容，并在自然物象中去探求技法表的丰富性。其作品风格多样，朴实而富于生活气息，走出了一条自己的道路。?
