郭修琳，字海子，男，回族，1933年生于温岭石塘，国家二级美术师。郭修琳系中国美术家协会会员，全国第四届美术家代表大会代表，浙江美术家协会常务理事，浙江山水画研究会会员；还曾担任浙江省八届人大代表、温岭市政协常委、浙江画院特聘画师、浙江温岭市文联名誉主席等职。
郭修琳毕业于临海师范，擅长：画国画。生长于海边的他，一生与大海结下不解之缘。几十年来，带着海边人特有的感情，寻找一种与大海对话的特殊语言，足迹遍及东海数百个岛屿。早在上个世纪80年代，他就以全新的表现手法和让人耳目一新的艺术语言，写海、写渔民，并以此驰誉艺坛。尤其是1988年开始的“万里海疆行”，孑然一身深入考察祖国四大海域。一路风险，一路艰辛，历时10余月，行程14000余公里，以血的代价换得了万里海疆难能可贵的创作素材。　　他创作的数百幅表现大海的国画作品在国内外发表与展出，并屡次获奖，被世人称为勇于探索的海洋画家。他的作品《岛上节日》入选第八届全国美展、《银潮》获第六届全国美展优秀奖、《溟海希声》入选第八届全国美展、《渔的图腾》入选首届全国山水画集等。《金海》、《风雪黄昏海》等被中国美术馆收藏。艺术大师留洋粟评日“修琳身经沧海，所作波澜壮阔，更以自辟蹊径为难得”。书法界泰斗沙孟海称修琳之路为“海之路”。著名画家吴冠中教授评修琳之作为“感受得深，表现得新”。
1992年5月，浙江省人民美术出版社隆重地推出了《海之歌·郭修琳万里海疆行速写集》，全国十余家报刊发表评论，认为《海之歌》是“灵魂中永恒的潮声”，“大海演奏的乐章，海疆风情的诗篇”。
1994年，郭修琳因患喉癌晚期，从此失声，但他仍顽强地与病魔抗争。在此后的8年中，他以惊人的毅力创作了300多幅国画作品。2003年1月6日，温岭市举办了“郭修琳摄影作品展览”，展出其40年来所摄的90多幅多姿多彩的摄影作品。
2004年，上海文艺出版社出版了《郭修琳摄影选集》，收录了作者从1962年至今历时40多年拍摄的52幅摄影佳作，分为《海魂》、《潮音》、《重奏》、《心象》四大部分，每幅作品都由郭修琳本人配上简短的语丝，可从中窥见其挚爱生命，搏击命运，笑对人生的艺术情怀。正如浙江省文联主席、浙江省美协副主席张浩对其评价：“他一生从未放弃过对艺术的追求，他对艺术有着宗教般的虔诚和狂热，他用生命的全部去回报艺术的诱惑。他也借此战胜了生命中的一切障碍。”在《郭修琳摄影选集》的序言中，画家、诗人、作家、音乐家、摄影家、渔家民歌手、渔家女等11位不同职业的人，从各个角度观照、概括了郭修琳其人其艺。
2012年4月13日17时59分，郭修琳因病逝世于温岭市中医院，享年80岁。
