字雪丘号玠生（1906-1980），祖藉福建省永春县人。生前为中国美术家协会会员，福建省美术家协会常务理事、福建省文联常务理事、福州市美术家协会副主席、福州市国画研究会常务理事、福州市政协委员、福建师范大学美术系教授，毕生从事美术教育事业。
1929年7月毕业于上海新华艺术大学大学部中国画系，师授潘天寿、刘海粟、王个簃、俞剑华等国画大师。林子白先生的山水画浑厚滋润、笔墨苍劲，他的花鸟画取法石涛、八大、吴昌硕，落笔酣畅劲健、状物取神、不仅继承传统，且能追随时代。林子白先生的艺术修养是多方面的，他在书法、篆刻、指画等都有很深的造诣。
