吴荣康（1911-2002）号吴山，曾用名敖生，汉族。1911年农历6月24日诞生于江苏省宜兴县。1926年就读于无锡美术专门学校国画系，师承江南名画师胡汀鹭先生暨贺天健、陈旧村等先生。
毕业后考入国立南京中央大学美术系，专习西洋绘画，得徐悲鸿、潘玉良、陈之佛等大师亲授，1935年毕业，获教育学学士（学位）。吴荣康先生长期从事大专院校的美术教育工作，曾执教于广州国立中山大学、江苏省立教育学院、苏州美专无锡分院、江苏省立无锡师范等院校，先后任助教、讲师、教授等职。从教四十五年，编写了不少美术教材，出版过“水墨画技法”等书，为发展美术教育作出了贡献。
吴先生教学之余，挥笔不缀。画家对中西绘画功力深厚，尤精研花鸟画。所绘花卉翎毛，驱笔工秀、落墨流畅、形神兼备、生态可掬。尤擅长画鲤鱼，其鱼游弋之状，栩栩如生，素有“鱼王”之美称。三、四十年代就曾多次在南京香铺营、上海大新公司、慈淑大楼等画厅及苏州、无锡、常州等地举办画展，徐悲鸿、邵力子、贺天健等著名大画家为其题字。徐悲鸿大师评价吴先生的花鸟画作品既保持了胡汀鹭先生作画细腻高雅、潇洒的传统，又能运用色彩、光影、空间的西画技巧，是花鸟画的创新，有个人特色。作品在海内外多次展出，并被当地文化馆、博物馆收藏。近年国家领导人、省、市政府代表团出访国外，常选用画家的花鸟画作为礼品赠送。
吴荣康先生历任无锡美术学会常务理事、监事，无锡市文学艺术作家协会副主席，美术协会理事长，无锡市政协委员、常委、文化组组长，江苏省政协委员。1980年由无锡市组织部调任无锡市文化局，创办无锡市书画院并任院长。
生前国家一级美术师、中国美术家协会会员，江苏省美术家协会名誉理事、无锡市书画院名誉院长、无锡市文联艺术指导员会副主任、市美协名誉主席、无锡市政协联谊会理事、江苏省花鸟画研究会特邀研究员、无锡市老年书画协会名誉会长、美国著名画家程及美术创作基金会会长、无锡市老年基金会顾问、钱松癌艺术研究会副会长。吴山先生作为当代著名画家被录入《美术辞林·中国绘画·当代画家人名卷》、《中国当代美术家人名录》、《中国当代画家辞典》、《中国当代书画家名人大辞典》及香港汉荣书局出版的《华夏千家书画集》等辞书。
