胡立伟，1956年生于长沙。1984年毕业于湖南师大美术学院并留校任教。1990年结业于浙江美术学院国画系书法专业。1991年调湖南省文联任湖南省书协副秘书长。1993年调湖南省画院任专职书画篆刻家至今。现为国家一级美术师、中国美术家协会会员、中国书法家协会会员、湖南省画院副院长、湖南省书协副主席、中国书协鉴定评估委员会委员、湖南省美协理事。
作品入选全国展览：《西泠印社首届、第二届全国篆刻艺术展》、《全国首届新人新作书法展》、《全国第四届中青年书法篆刻展》、《全国第五届书法篆刻展》、《全国第八届美术作品展》、《全国第十一次美术作品新人新作展》、《第五届全国体育美术作品展》、《第一届、第二届中国美术家协会会员中国画精品展》、《第二届、第三届全国画院优秀作品展》、《纪念改革开放30周年全国美术作品展》，《庆祝中华人民共和国成立60周年——第十一届全国美术作品展》，《光辉历程，时代画卷——庆祝中国共产党成立90周年美术作品展》，《第八届国际书法交流大展》，《第二届中国山水画艺术双年展》。

作品赴美国、日本、韩国、新加坡等地展出，2012年长沙举办个人画展。
