任明1968年出生于亳州谯城。1988年入天津美术学院绘画系深造，得著名画家孙其峰、白庚延、吕云所、霍春阳、何家英等诸师亲授。现为中国美术家协会会员、安徽省美术家协会理事、安徽省中国画艺委会委员、九三学社安徽书画院副院长、亳州市文联副主席、亳州市美术家协会主席、亳州市书画院名誉院长、亳州市政协委员。2010年赴韩国参加首届中韩双向当代美术家作品邀请展。2012年赴美国参加徽风中国安徽新徽派美术作品展。2013年赴英国剑桥大学参加中国新徽派美术作品展。其绘画作品多次入选省级、国家级展览并获奖。多幅作品发表、出版及被相关机构收藏，并由安徽美术出版社出版美术教材《写意梅花》（第一辑、第二辑），新华书店全国发行。
