多年来从事微生物与生物工程方面的教学和科研工作。曾主持国家、山西省、以及企业资助的研究课题十余项，现主持"十五"国家科技攻关计划项目"光合细菌产品开发"研究课题。有四项研究成果通过省级鉴定和验收，分别达到国际领先、国际先进和国内领先水平。己获授权发明专利5项(另有3项发明专利正在审批中)，实用新型专利3项。

在国内、外学术刊物上发表研究论文七十余篇，主要有"深红红螺菌载色体结合的谷氨酰胺合成酶的纯化、特性和活性调节"(英语)，"荚膜红假单胞菌甲胺代谢及其在固氮酶关闭中的作用"(英语)，"固定化球形红细菌生物合成纳米硫化锌半导体" (英语),"光合细菌防治高脂家兔动脉粥样硬化的研究"，"脱硫脱硫弧菌转化二氧化硫气体的研究","沼泽红假单胞菌偶氮还原酶新基因的克隆表达"等。其中两篇获山西省科技进步理论一等奖。一项成果获"92北京国际发明展览会"金奖和人类保健奖。多项研究成果被转让，"康强硒胶囊"、"光合细菌菌肥"、"光合细菌饲料添加剂"、"水质净化剂"等产品己实现产业化，均己成功推向市场，并获国家五部委颁发的"国家重点新产品证书"，取得了良好的经济效益、社会效益和环境效益。1997年被授予"全国优秀留学回国人员"称号，受到国家教委、人事部的表彰。1997年5月山西省劳动竞赛委员会为其荣记特等功。1997年11月被授予"山西省教育系统精神文明建设先进个人"。1998年5月被中共山西省委、山西省政府授予"山西省特级劳动模范"称号。

 [近现代](一八九七至一九七六)武汉人，湖北省美术教育事业的先驱，曾任武昌艺专校长、中国美术家协会武汉分会主席、全国美协理事、中南美专教授、湖北省文联副主席、武汉市政协常委、省人大代表，出席全国文代会、文教群英会。花鸟画享有盛誉。早年在北京艺专时，从师王梦白、陈师曾，深受恽南田画风的影响，后来研究过陈淳、徐渭、李鳟、华岩、赵之谦、任伯华、虚谷等明清画家的作品，兼写生与写意派二者的优点，把形象真实与缘物寄情统一起来，不求工而见工于笔墨之外，七十岁后，画风大变，由小写意到减笔大写意，由用色多一变为用墨多，纵笔驰骋，水墨酣畅，讲求经济原则，以少胜多。朴素自然，平淡天真。深得水墨写意派的真体。《美协武汉分会供稿》

 张肇铭先生是一个在20世纪中国美术史和美术教育史中不可回避的人物，《中国美术全集》、《中国美术辞典》等专著都作有评价。1990年后，国家文物局两次颁发了对1949年后已故著名书画家作品限制出境名单，湖北著名画家艺术家张肇铭先生名列其中.
