张振铎（1908.9—1989.4），原名鼎生，字闻天，浦江人。自幼受家庭熏陶，好学深思，笃志学习国画。
1927年毕业于上海美术专科学校。
1932年，与潘天寿等组成白社画会。历任上海新华艺术专科学校、昆明艺术专科学校、西南美术专科学校教授，国立艺专、湖北艺术学院、湖北美术学院教授、系主任、副院长，中国美术家协会湖北分会副主席、顾问，全国文联委员，中国民主促进会第四、五届中央委员及中央参议员，湖北省第三、四届人大代表和第四、五、六届政协常委。

治学勤奋，襟怀坦荡，植根生活，勇于创新，以继承和发展国画事业、培养美术人才为己任，数十年如一日。师承山阴画派，早年受业于经亨颐、吕凤子、潘天寿等。善于博取众家之长，作画简逸粗犷，苍劲浑厚，风格独特，李可染称之为“南张北李(李苦禅)”。
其艺术创作生涯纵贯上世纪20年代至80年代，足迹遍及大半个中国，创作了大量有影响的作品，形成了特有的艺术风格，为我国画界公认和推崇。
曾任湖北省美术家协会副主席、湖北艺术学院副院长，历任民进中央委员、中国文联委员、湖北省政协常委、省人大代表。其作品曾在美、日、德等国展出，并为中国美术馆收藏。其名字载入《中国当代画家辞典》，是荆楚大地最负盛名的国画大师之一。
2002年国家文物局颁布《已故著名书画家作品限制出境的鉴定标准》，其代表作被列为限制出境的作品。

国画《远望》1984年获建国35周年全国美术展览荣誉奖。其作品在国内和选送美国、日本、泰国、新加坡展览时，深得好评。作品还有《远望图》、《槐林曲》、《觅》等。 出版有《张振铎画集》。
