石鲁，1919年12月13日生于四川省仁寿县，原名冯亚衡。中国现代中国画家，山水、人物、花鸟画家，长安画派主要创始人。1936年毕业于成都东方美术专科学校，1938年肄业于四川华西大学文学院历史社会学系。1939年入陕西安吴堡青训班学习。1938年投身抗日救亡运动，1940年投奔延安入陕北公学院，开始以画笔为宣传工具献身革命，因慕石涛和鲁迅，易名石鲁。在延安历任西北文艺工作团美术组长、陕甘宁边区文化协会美术干部、《群众画报》编辑、延安大学文艺系美术班主任。1949年后历任西北美术工作者协会副主任、《西北画报》社社长、中国美术家协会陕西分会主席、陕西国画院名誉院长、中国美协常务理事等。1961年在北京举办“西安美术家协会国画研究室习作展”，被誉为“长安画派”。十年浩劫中备受摧残，仍顽强斗争、坚持作画。1979年中国美术家协会在北京举办“石鲁书画展”。出版画集多种，创作有电影剧本《暴风中的雄鹰》。中国画作品有《转战南北》、《华岳之雄》、《荷雨图》等。著有画论《石鲁学画录》等。1982年8月25日卒于陕西省西安市。

石鲁是20世纪中国书画领域的革新家。他早年学习中国传统绘画，进入创作期以后，艺术大体经历了三个阶段。第一阶段40年代和50年代，以比较写实的通俗人物故事画宣传社会革命，代表作有木刻版画《打倒封建》和彩墨画《长城内外》。第二阶段60年代，一方面以叙事、抒情、象征手法结合的巨幅历史画《转战陕北》取得了突破，另一方面以《南泥湾途中》等一批新山水画成为"长安画派"最有影响力的画家。第三阶段70年代，他以花鸟大写意为主，创作了一批极具个性化的诗、书、画、印，具有强烈的主观表现性，以强力提按的用笔和激烈抒情的品格构成了对传统书画的变革，成为书画由传统形态向现代形态转变的艺术家。
石鲁因为敬慕清代画家石涛和现代著名作家鲁迅，就把自己的号称为“石鲁”。石鲁(1919～1982)是长安画派的领军人物，他的画作是中国最早进入国际市场的近现代书画作品。石鲁年轻时只身赴延安参加革命，枣园星灯、山颠塔影、皇天后土、古塬狂飙成为石鲁主要的创作题材。有人说石鲁的作品“野、怪、乱、黑”，对此石鲁以诗应道：“人骂我野我更野，搜尽平凡创奇迹；人责我怪我何怪，不屑为奴偏自裁；人为我乱不为乱，无法之法法更严；人笑我黑不太黑，黑到惊心动魂魄，野怪乱黑何足论，你有嘴舌我有心。”石鲁是位极具灵气和创新的画家，黄土高原和陕北风情既寄寓了石鲁对那段革命历史的深情回忆，也表现了他对美和美的价值的全新理解。这种独特的创作手法使他成为了二十世纪中国画坛上最具反传统色彩的一代大师。

1919年十二月十三日出生在中国四川省仁寿县文公乡松林湾。取名:冯亚衍。父:冯子融，母:王氏，大哥:冯伯磷，二哥:冯建吴，三哥:冯伯琴，姐:冯汀祷辛亥鼎革，家世破落而余韵犹丰，科举废除而诗书尚存。先生聪颖好学，自

1937年十八岁东方美术国画系毕业，回仁寿县文公镇县立中心小学任教。
1938年十九岁赴成都借读华西协和大学文学院历史社会学系。
1939年二十岁元月赴陕西。改名：石鲁。经西安八路军办事处介绍，到三原县安吴堡青年训练班学习。结业后，到宜川第二战区民族革命大学前锋剧团工作，任戏剧、宣传股长。
1940年二十一岁年初到达延安。先在陕北公学院学习，后分到西北文艺工作团工作。历任宣传股长，美术组长和舞美设计等职。
1942年二十三岁十一月七日，与西工团同事、演员阑力生结婚。
1943年二十四岁参加中央党校三部整风运动。同年九月，第一个儿子出生。

1950年三十一岁赴青海藏族自治区写生。创作《侦察》等国画作品。
1951年三十二岁出席西北文代大会，当选西北文联常委、西北美协副主任。同年，调任西北画报社社长。1952年三十三岁去陕南、甘肃、青海等地写生。创作《兰新路上》等版画作品。
1953年三十四岁创作《幸福婚姻》等国画作品。出席第二届全国文代会。同年七月，第四个儿子出生。
1954年三十五岁当选美协西安分会副主席。创作《古长城外》等国画作品，撰写电影文学剧本《暴风雨中的雄鹰况(1956年由长春电影制片厂拍成故事片)
1955年三十六岁赴印度，参加国际博览会中国馆总体设计工作，并画了大量的写生。
1956年三十七岁赴埃及，出席国际艺术会议。进行了大量的写生，并创作了《沙漠之舟》等国画作品。在京举办印度埃及写生画展。同年七月，女儿出生。
1957年三十八岁多次赴陕南陕北山区农村写生，指导基层群众美术工作。创作了《高山放牧》等国画作品。
1958年三十九岁创建并主持美协西安分会国画创作研究室。提出了"一手伸向生活，一手伸向传统"的创新原则，并积极倡导"成家立业"、"独特风格"。创作了《背矿》等国画作品。《埃及写生集》由长安美术出版社出版。同年到商洛、渭北、志丹县等地采访，收集电影剧本《刘志丹》的素材。
1959年四十岁年初，赴北京为国庆十周年创作巨幅国画《转战陕北》。四月参加全国文化工作会议。提出"风景画可以通过曲折的关系表现人的伟大"的美学观点。
1960年四十一岁为人民大会堂陕西厅创作巨幅国画《延河饮马大七月出席第三届全国文代会。当选全国美协常务理事。创作了《南泥湾途中》等国画作品。
1961年四十二岁创作《东方欲晓》等国画作品。十月一日组织参加了在京举办的美协西安分会国画创作研究室习作展。画展引起强烈反响，被称为"新派"，关中画派的崛起。年底，由全国美协拨专款，率数位画家赴南京、上海、杭州巡回展出。
1962年四十三岁十一月，出席全国美协在广东新会召集的重点分会会议。其间创作国画《家家都在花丛中》等，同年还创作了《秋收》等国画作品。
1963年四十四岁初春，在西安长宁宫疗养治病期间，撰写理论著作《学画录》。提出《为生活而画则画活"、"以神造形"、"求笔墨当归于性情，归于意志"等一系列美学观点。从习作展作品中编选《国画选》，由长安美术出版社出版。同年，创作《延河水长流》等国画作品。
1964年四十五岁赴陕北黄河沿岸体验生活，收集素材，带病创作巨幅国画《东渡》，遭冷遇，被指责"丑化领袖"。因小说《刘志丹》被批为反党事件，被迫中止电影剧本《刘志丹》的创作。同年九月，由人民美术出版社出版的《石鲁作品集》，刚发行一星期，即被通知停售收回。
1965年四十六岁年初，赴陕南安康写生，创作了《蚕乡童年》等国画作品。七月出席在京召开的全国美协重点分会创作座谈会，明确表示不同意"有人说我们方向有问题"的说法。因病自学气功和针灸。同年秋，突然患精神分裂症，十一月入院治疗。
1966年四十七岁十月，被原单位"文革小组"强迫提前出院，接受批斗。
1967四十八岁遭受批斗、游街、拷打等残酷虐待，并被强迫隔离管制。

1971五十二岁因精神病院的证明，省政法小组未批准死刑，暂搁此案。六月出院回家。秋后，创作了《华山英雄》《黄河两岸度春秋》等国画作品，品。夏初，被省斗批改领导小组定为"现行反革命分子"上报省政法小组，要求判死刑。十一月第二次被送往精神病院治疗。《风流千载》等书法作品。
1972五十三岁在家养病，多方申诉冤案。创作了《雪弄华峰》等国画作品，《暮墨写之，书道为风》等书法作品。
1973五十四岁年初，被聘为省文化局美术顾问。为省外贸出口作书画。同年创作了《峨媚积雪图》等国画作品，《天高为极，大莽为仑》等书法作品。
1974五十五岁在全国性"批黑线回潮"讨比黑画"运动中，再被列为重点对象，遭受批判。同年创作了《苍苍白月挂高松》等国画作品，《大风吹宇宙，红日照高山》等书法作品。
1975五十六岁患肺结核。病中写作了大量诗词。创作了《兰宜乎瘦土》等国画作品，《平生惯惹千夫气，两手勤浇万木春》等书法作品。七月，被勒令迁居陕南山区，经医生证明，家属申诉，被缓办。

1976五十七岁为贺仆四人帮"垮台，抱病创作《花逢时雨俏八《春到人问》等书画作品。
1977五十八岁平反冤案的努力受阻，病情恶化。家属和友人直接向中央申诉。
1978五十九岁元月，文化部派专人来陕调查，并护送赴京，进行抢救治疗。八月病情好转，曾为专程来访，摄制录像片的陕西电视台作《青春者长松八《欲穷千里目，更上一层楼》书画。十一月二十一日，陕西省委审干领导小组正式行文，作出"予以彻底平反，恢复名誉"的审查结论。年底，应邀在中央美术学院国画系讲课。
1979六十岁二月出院返回西安参加美协陕西分会的重组工作。三月又赴北京出席全国美协常务理事扩大会议。在会上作了重要发言，痛斥对艺术家的迫害，回西安后，因病情复发，住院治疗。同年，缺席当选美协陕西分会主席，省书法家协会主席。十二月，由全国美协和中国美术馆联合举办的石鲁书画展在北京展出，引起强烈反响。
1981年六十二岁肺病转好。十月救灾义卖作大幅《荷花图》，同年当选中国书画研究院院长，陕西省人大常委。
1982年六十三岁，发现胃癌，病情急剧恶化，经多方抢救无效，于八月二十五日十六时十八分在陕西省人民医院逝世，终年六十三岁。
