张道兴1935年4月26日出生于河北沧州县。现为海军政治部创作室专业画家,国家一级美术师,享受国家政府特殊津贴。,擅长中国画、书法及篆刻。
1962年以来,曾多次参加全国美展,全国书展及国外书画交流展,作品多次获奖或为国家收藏。其中中国画作品参加四、五、六、七、八、九十届全国美展、首届中国画展、首届中国画人物展、纪念香港回归中国艺术家展、中国画百年展、首届北京国际美术双年展等。中国画创作的代表作有:《茶岭春》、《让路》、《不尽长江滚滚来》、《脚踏着祖国大地》、《春雨江南》、《喜鹊叫喳喳》、《茅山听雨》、《儿子》、《待发》、《大秧歌》、《晚归》、《海的容颜》、《儿子》为第八届美展优秀作品,《待发》获解放军全军文艺新作品奖二等奖。
书法作品参加全国第二、三、四、五、六、七、八届书展首届篆刻展,二十世纪书法名家大展。1990年在香港大会堂举办"张道兴书画张"。1991年在中国画研究院举办"张道兴中国画新作展"。1994年在马来西亚举办"张道兴画展"。1995年在北京中国美术馆举办“张道兴书画展”。
1997年在澳大利亚新南威尔士洲美术馆举办的"中国新文人画展"。1998年参加美国哥伦比亚大学举办的"中国书画展"。张道兴的艺术创作注重传统与创新、摆脱固枝、得益于书、画、印的通学与互补,注重笔法、魔法、色法构成的结合,注重书法性与塑造性的结合努力把握创作的分寸感,以寻求艺术个性的综合提升。

艺术风格

张道兴强调画面体制,如作文章,因一时思想情绪所异,文字每每变化殊术,所谓因势利导、乘机为制者是,即称其为“新”。其新,当然不只是完全可见的构图的、色彩的或用笔的地方,更有观念的、意欲的和理想的方面。“艺术意欲”,是艺术创作和艺术审美的主要能源之一。看张道兴的书法,可以感受到他机发矢直、涧曲湍回的表现力。这种力量,也同样可以在他的人物画中觉察。

绘画技法

后来,他着重研究了金农和吴昌硕,从其线条、笔法中获得启发。金农的作品从头到尾贯以方笔,浑厚老辣。吴昌硕则以金文篆书入画,线条舒展活灵、力透纸背。笔法不同,则作品面貌绝然不同,可见笔法是实现艺术个性化的基础。基础符号不同,决定画面效果不同,一如建筑,草木结构、砖瓦结构还是钢混结构,决定所建房子的质量不同。
