多年从事美术教育、教学及美术创作工作，国内外发表作品数千余幅之多。1992年由中国文联出版公司出版《郭钟永画册》；人民美术出版社出版《写意花鸟画诀》；并陆续出版《真草隶篆速成技法》；《郭钟永速写》及《郭钟永篆刻》。2001年世纪之交由中国邮政总局出版发行有奖明信片《西部风情》中国画山水作品四枚，即：《雪域霞光》、《蜀寨山乡》、《滇南秀色》、《嘉峪风云》。2003年由中央电视台夕阳红印制并发行《中国名花画谱》。2004年由香港文学报社出版公司出版21世纪书画名家大师精品系列郭钟永写意花鸟画集《意溢草木》、《枝发天香》。曾在美术专业刊物上发表《论中国画的多元呼应》、《行草书法创作中辩证法的运用》、《外师造化·?内发心源》等多篇有价值的论文及书法、根雕、雕塑等作品。1990年在加拿大举办个人画展，1998年获韩国国际美展优秀作品金奖。2003年11月，由北京市美术家协会、北京市书法家协会及北京联合大学在中央美术学院美术馆共同主办了《郭钟永书画展》。世界9000余家网站等媒体均做过专题介绍及报道，2007年被中外名人研究会将其作品及介绍刊载于《一代大师》。同年，文化部艺术人材中心将其作品及传略列入《中国艺术大家》，2008年作品选入《?当代美术三十年1978——2008》，2009年人民美术出版社出版《艺术人生——建国60周年最具学术价值与市场潜力书画家作品集》，2011年香港天马图书有限公司出版《情融山河——著名书画大家郭钟永山水画集》并主编了画著《广艺汇金》、《艺设大千》及《广艺习精》。2012年被中国书画交流协会选入金龙贺岁艺坛翘楚中国四龙台历即：靳尚谊，欧阳中石，刘大为，郭钟永等。
