1956年出生于北京，祖籍河北清苑县。1980年考入中央美院国画系（本科），作品两次在就个展、多次参加国内外画展。曾赴新加坡、德国柏林、日本东京搞个展及讲学。中央电社台、北京电视台、山东电视台分别做过新闻报道和专题报道。部分作品被中国画研院、中央美院、北京师范大学、日本东洋美校、新加坡、加拿大、德国文化发展中心等国内外文化团体所收获。曾应邀为北京画院、中国艺术研究院、南开大学、天水师范学院、庆阳师范学院讲学授课。现任教于中央美术学院国画系。受聘于中国艺术研究院高研班。现任中央美院国画系教研室主任，中国艺术研究院客座教授，荣宝斋画院教授
