刘俊刚生于1956年4月，北京人，毕业于中央美术学院国画系。现为中国美术家协会会员，中国美术家协会河山画会会员，中国人民大学画院特聘教授。美国东伊利诺伊大学特聘教授。北京燕山书画院副院长。
1980年拜中国著名画家何海霞先生为师，成为何海霞先生的入门弟子。
1988年首次在北京琉璃厂文奎堂画廊成功举办个人山水画画展。
1990年应深圳美术馆邀请在深圳美术馆举办个人山水展。
1992年--2014年曾先后9次在德国海德堡市、曼海姆市、沃尔姆兹市等地举办个人画展，《海德堡的冬天》被海德堡艺术馆收藏。
1995年--2014年曾先后7次在美国东伊利诺伊州大学及肯塔基州斯堡尔丁大学讲学，并举行个人画展。
2012年被评为绿色中国年度焦点人物公益人物奖，2013年被评为绿色中国行推广大使。
2014年4月应美国芝加哥市中心JohnDavidMooneyFoundation画廊邀请举办个人中国水墨画展。
