张秀山，原名张世英，曾用名张秋涛，河北省曲阳县人。张秀山于1916年毕业于保定高等师范学院美术系，毕业后在河北省正定及北京等地多所中学教授美术，期间曾师从齐白石先生学画，擅长中国画花鸟画并擅长书法，解放后在北京女三中任教，同时在北师大任客座教授从事美术教学。后因高血压病休，在家潜心研究书画，加入中国美术家协会及中国书法家协会，与王雪涛、李苦禅等著名画家结为好友。多次参加北海画舫斋举办的国画展。1961-1962年期间应邀给南阳武侯祠书写隶书草庐对碑文，至今保存完好。
