刘玉泉，山东人。擅长中国画。1955年生于山东藤州。1983年毕业于山东艺术学院国画专业，留校任教，主攻写意花鸟画。1987年入中央美术学院深造花鸟画。历任山东艺术学院副教授，美术师范系副主任，现任山东设计学院院长，教授.中国美术家协会山东分会会员，山东画院画师家。他的作品曾先后参加中国画研究院第三届画展、全国首届花鸟画展、第五届和第八届全国当代花鸟画邀请展等全国性重要展览，并多次获奖。1989年在山东省美术馆举办“刘玉泉中国画艺术展”，引起很大的反响。山东电视台、济南电视台分别为他拍摄了专题片和《刘玉泉作品欣赏》。1994年出版《刘玉泉画集》，有的作品被编入《中国国画家辞典》、《中南海珍藏书画集》、《中国花鸟画集》、《华夏千家书画集》等多种画册和辞典。
1989年在山东省美术馆举办“刘玉泉中国画艺术展”。1990年作品《幽藤》入选“中国画研究院第三届院展”1991年作品《晴晨》入编《中南海珍藏书画集》。1992年作品《密境》入选“全国首届中国花鸟画展览”，入编《中国花鸟画集》。1994年出版《中国当代美术家画库——刘玉泉画集》；作品《远林》入选“第八届全国美展。1995年作品《雨韵》入编《全国高等艺术院校中国画教师作品集》。1996年作品《圣洁》入编《当代花鸟画集》。1997年作品《圣洁》、《晴雨》刊入香港《今日中国》杂志。1999年作品《霜重色愈浓》获”当代中国青年书画展“优秀奖；作品《露华》获“全国第二届中国花鸟画展览”优秀奖；入编《全国第二届中国花鸟画展览作品集》；作品《雾露霜华》入选“第九届全国美展”，获省一等奖，入编《第九届全国美展中国画作品集》；由国家教育部体育卫生与艺术教育司组编，特聘本人撰写《全国高师专科美术教育专业必修课教材——中国画·花鸟》；作品《崖间》获”纪念孔子诞辰2550周年书画大展“铜奖”。2000年作品《霜晨》入编《山东省跨世纪中国画精品集》；出版“教你一招”中国画技法丛书《画梅》；作品《密境》入编《山东五十年美术书法精品集》等；论文《中国画的尚墨观》发表于中国画重点学术期刊《国画家》。2001年参加在中国美术馆举办的“2001·中国画九人展”，出版《刘玉泉画集》。
现为中国美术家协会会员；山东艺术学院教授；硕士研究生导师；设计学院院长；澳大利亚格里菲斯大学博士研究生导师，山东美术家协会理事；山东画院高级画师鸟画展。
