钱行健，江苏无锡人。曾从名士袁容舫先生攻习山水、花卉、文学及诗词。1954年师从上海著名画家江寒汀先生专攻花画。1963年又致力于中国绘画理论的研究。现为中国美术家协会会员，上海美术家协会会员，上海外国语大学副教授，上海市黄浦画院副院长。著有《百鸟图》、《钱行健画集》两册，《中国画技法丛书》以及我国台湾出版的《涉禽》、《游禽》、《鸣禽》等花鸟画集共十五种专著，以及香港、国内各主要刊物的各种出版物百余种，其中有关艺术论文论述等共约十余万字。
1956年获上海市青年美展甲等奖，以后历年在上海市及全国各重要画展中均有作品展出。1984年首次在上海举行个人画展，同年和1985年、1990先后三次在香港举行个人画展，1988年在新加坡举行个人画展。
