蔡超，1944年生，上海嘉定人，国家一级美术师，现为文化部中国国家画院院务委员兼研究员、中国艺术研究院中国画院研究员、南昌大学书画艺术研究院院长、南昌工程学院人文艺术学院名誉院长、江西省美术家协会名誉主席、江西画院名誉院长、中国中国画学会常务理事。曾任江西省政协常委、江西省文学艺术界联合会副主席、江西省美术家协会主席、江西书画院院长、江西省博物馆馆长。原系中国美术家协会理事、中国美术家协会中国画艺术委员会委员、中国美术家协会江西创作中心主任等，省内外多所画院任名誉院长，第八、九、十届全国美展评委及每年全国多项美展评委。获国家有突出贡献优秀中青年专家称号，国务院颁政府特殊津贴专家，全国“五一”劳动奖章获得者，全国文化系统先进工作者，97年中国画坛百杰，全国文艺界德艺双馨优秀会员等多项全国性荣誉，被南昌大学、江西师范大学美术学院、南昌工程学院艺术学院等多所院校聘为客座教授、硕士生导师。

擅长中国画人物画兼攻山水花鸟，其作品多次获得全国性展览奖及国际奖，被授予首届徐悲鸿美术成就奖，首届黄宾虹美术成就奖。为中国美协、中央电视台录播“中国当代国画四十家”之一，被中国美术出版界提名列入当代最具影响力百名画家，其作品二次搭乘神州六号、七号飞船进入太空。被国家科学技术奖励大会授予“优秀人民艺术家”称号，作品多次被国家有关部门选送欧、美、日、韩、非等国及港、澳、台地区展出，曾率中国美术家代表团访问印度、埃及并多次出访欧、美、日等国及港、澳、台，出版十多种画集合集三十余种，其艺术成就被收入国内外数十种名人辞典。
