郭银土，回族，1945年出生，毕业于四川大学，曾任新华社福建分社记者、《福建商报》总编辑、福建商业高等专科学校党委书记兼美术教授，福建省第八、九届政协委员，福建省五一劳动奖章获得者，享受国务院特殊津贴专家。现为中国工笔画学会福建工笔画写生与创作基地主任、中国徐悲鸿画院副院长，福商画院院长，闽江学院漆艺研究院院长，中国美术家协会会员。
曾被国务院授予“全国民族团结进步模范”称号、荣获“福建省第三届高等学校教学名师奖”。郭银土教授在校内举办“寓教于画”的小品画展，2009年被评为福建省教学成果一等奖。出版有《郭银土画集》8部、散文集一部及十几本美术作品挂历，作品多次入选国内外有关画展并获奖，在福州举办过四次个人画展。1999年在北京中国美术馆举办个人画展，贾庆林、布赫、卢嘉锡为画展剪彩，张克辉、彭冲、王汉斌出席了开幕式，著名画家华君武、林锴、林凡和中央14位部级领导参观了这次画展，在京城引起了不小轰动。2011年1月15日在美国纽约举办个人画展获得成功，有三分之一小品画为观众和收藏家所收藏，华盛顿市长格雷及议长夸梅先后接见了郭银土教授，国际文化艺术中心向郭银土教授颁发《中国画成就奖》。2008年郭银土教授自费建了一幢近2000平方的艺术馆，贾庆林主席为该馆题了“银土薯香苑”。
近几年来，郭银土教授的“小品画系列”在中国画坛引起了非凡的反响和广泛的关注。著名画家华君武、李硕卿、朱晨光、田黎明、刘人岛、刘进安、姚衡、著名艺术评论家菲利普·古佛立、徐恩存、杨庚新和著名作家郭风、许怀中、散文家宋祝平、著名记者郑祖庵、何光锐都作了较高的评价。
郭银土教授画的“雄鹰系列”，在中国美术馆和美国纽约展出曾受专家和观众的好评，有的作品入选国内外展出获金奖并被收藏。2006年盛夏以来，郭银土教授尝试用国画和粉画相结合创作“清莲系列”，用笔施彩大胆，构图颇富新意，画面清新、朴实，洋溢着浓厚的民间气息。
