李凯云（1903－1993）字晓岚，号登俊，湖南长沙人。1920年进长沙李豫章湘绣铺当学徒，1928年转到广华绣庄从事各种湘绣日用品设计，如堂彩、椅披、帐帘、庙宇神袍、戏装幕布等，为后来的湘绣日用品设计创新打下了雄厚基础。同年为即将举行的“奉安大典”设计了孙中山先生的灵柩用湘绣棺罩，入葬中山陵，成为湘绣史上的荣耀。
解放以后又设计了众多的湘绣日用品，如床单、床毯、台布、被面等，并多数出口，内容基本上为花卉，他长期从事湘绣日用品设计，把中国花鸟画的表现形式----折枝花运用于湘绣设计，并取得了成果，他设计的“五百”被面成为湘绣定型产品，长期畅销，加上他设计的花鸟八页、四页中屏、条屏等精品，约占湘绣出口产品的60-70%。
1956年设计的梅花被面和团花被面被送到北京中央工艺美术学院评审，获得好评，团花被面被当时的中央工艺美术学院院长、著名工艺美术教育理论家庞熏教授买下，私人收藏。
1957年设计的百花被面以梅花、天竹、水仙为主花，间以数十种花卉，组成百花，花枝琳琅满目，色彩丰富，散而不乱，整体统一，格调淡雅，曾参加了首届全国工艺美术展览。
文化大革命中，总结自己多年的绘画经验，勾画下白描花卉稿以留之于世，共画了6本画稿，包括牡丹、月季、芙蓉、茶花、百花等，每本100余张。这些线描功底深厚，结构严谨，简练畅达，古朴劲健。如《牡丹画谱》共汇82朵不同形状的牡丹，六十朵不带叶的牡丹形态各具，绝无雷同；二十二朵带叶牡丹花铁线描成，俏丽生辉。《百花画谱》绘有102种各类花卉，采用折枝画法，铁线描成，每一画面均讲究构图。这些画谱是珍贵的白描花卉教材，聚集了他从艺的数十年心得体会。
身份
1957年作为艺人代表，赴京出席全国工艺美术艺人代表会议，受到国家领导人朱德的接见。其作品十锦彩花被面收入1959年出版的《中国工艺美术》大型精装画册。
1963年8月成为中国美术家协会会员。
1964年9月被选为湖南省第三届人民代表大会代表。
1977年和1983年特邀为中国人民政治协商会议湖南省第四届第五届委员会委员。
1989年被选为湖南省工艺美术大师。
1993年12月在第三届中国工艺美术大师评选中获“中国工艺美术大师”称号。
李凯云从事湘绣设计五十余年，有着深厚的花鸟画艺术修养与功底，谙熟图案与日用品设计，并创造性把花鸟折枝画法与湘绣日用品图案设计结合起来，他的设计风格简练、明快、省工省线、新颖美观，是近现代湘绣史上，日用品设计革新首屈一指的代表人物和艺术家。
1993年2月15日在曙光医院逝世，享年90岁.
