潘义禄，男，1930年6月生，大专文化，祖籍广西荔浦县，九岁迁居阳朔。受万里漓江奇山秀水之熏陶，自幼受好丹青，走自学成才之道，取法贤者，师法自然为学习绘画的座右铭。几十年来坚持自学方向，苦修传统，海纳百家，兼融中西技法，作品力求形神兼备，雅俗共赏，并逐步形成个人的独特风格。从1956年起便有作品参加广西省美展。历年作品多次选送地方、全国、海外书画大展，二十余次获奖。曾在北京、桂林、深圳、佛山、肇庆、香港、西贡等地先后举办画展十余次。曾应邀为北京天安门城楼、人民大会堂、毛主席纪念堂、中南海作画陈列和收藏。92年还应中央军委总参管理局之邀到北戴河为邓小平、杨尚昆、刘华清等首长的厅室作画。
多年来不少作品被地方、中央一些部门征作礼品馈赠国内、国际友人。95年联合国第四次妇女大会在北京召开，应大会组委会特约绘制国画山水一幅，馈赠国际友人。1996年、1997年江泽民主席、李鹏总理到阳朔视察，阳朔县人民政府以其两幅作品分别赠送两位领导人，以作纪念。多年来百余幅作品在国内外报刊发表或收入书画专辑。92年《碧莲峰里住人家》收入天安门珍藏书画集，94年《春自山涧来》收入毛主席纪念堂《东方红》大型书画集。40米国画山水长卷《阳朔揽胜》94年由人民美术出版社出版发行。98年广西邮资票品局特约绘制一套十一幅漓江山水出版发行明信片。同年4月，上海文史集邮研究会为纪念其从艺60周年，发行一枚当代文化名人纪念封。广西电视台、广东肇庆电视台分别录制播放了反映其艺术生涯的专题片。《中国美术家名人录》、《中国当代艺术家名人大辞典》、《桂林文艺家传略》等辞书收有其艺术简历。
现为中国美术家协会广西分会会员，中国诗书画研究会会员、中国老年书画研究会创作研究员、阳朔海峡之友文艺交流促进会会长；曾任阳朔画院院长。
