胡克文先生笔名少飞，1928年6月生于浙江宁波。1945年毕业于上海美专，1947年1月在民众分局任练习生，夜在画室学画，解放后又随颜文果习画后转学国画。1952年从上海连环画学习班结业后在全球书局任美编。1955年6月合并为公私合资新美术出版社，1956年1月聘入上海人民美术出版社任美术创作。1988年7月退休，为上海市美术家协会会员。同时，他还担任着上海连环画研究会会员，中国书画家理事、研究员。上海风苑书画社顾问，中国艺术研究院文艺市场研究中心创作委员及美术师、洞庭书画院高级画师、淮海书画院名誉院长、桂林炎黄书画院院士等职。擅长国画人物，兼画山水。人物形神兼备，山水具有气势磅礴之韵味。
胡克文先生是靠自学成才，而走上新中国连环画创作道路的，那一时代的作品，均以“少飞”这个笔名发表。在1949年上海解放后，他参加了中华全国美术工作者协会上海分公，成为会员。随即50年代，参加了上海连环画作者联谊会，并成为美协主办的第一期连环画研究班学习成员。由于酷爱美术创作，他利用自己业余时间，又在新中国画室、时代画室，向盛振铎、陈秋林、颜文梁三位先生学习素描、透视基础。此间，有幸得益于贺天健、刘锡永等名家的“点拨”，终于成为一代连环画的高手。
在新中国连环画坛上，很多读者对胡克文的名字都不会陌生，特别是喜欢外国题材的连友们，都十分喜欢胡克文先生笔下所塑造出的，形神兼备，惟妙惟肖的外国名著中的人物。胡克文从事连环画创作四十余年，先后创作了一百多部连环画作品，1962年，在全国第一届连环画评奖会上，胡克文创作的《山鹰之歌》获得全国连环画绘画评比三等奖。同时，他创作的许多作品在50-60年代颇具影响。如《虎头鲨落网记》（合作）、《青年车工标兵》、《风雪大别山》（合作）、《红石岩》、《激流勇进》、《一个老黄忠式的人物》、《时代的火花》、《找密件》、《红缨歌》，直到70-80年代的《白求恩》、《新战场》、《堡垒》、《傲雷一兰》、《历法风云》等，早期的单线白描技法臻致炉火纯青之境界，后期的黑白线条同样运用娴熟；但使胡克文连环画创作享誉连坛的，还是外国题材的创作，像《伪君子》、《王子复仇记》、《爱美丽雅》、《奇妙的石像》、《真正的人》以及早期代表性的作品《吝啬鬼》，到近年根据法国大文豪巴尔扎克小说编绘的《奇双会》，这部作品也是他40余年连环画的封笔之作。胡克文先生的绘画功力深厚，题材不拘中外，为我们留下了许多经典之作，至今一再重版。他笔下刻画出的人物及事件，十分受人喜欢。无论是外国题材的涉猎，还是对国内现实生活题材、乃至边疆少数民族风土人情及古代人物的描绘，皆为胡克文神来之笔所驾驭。正是由于他自身的良好艺术修养，才取得连环画创作上不斐的业绩，他是“海派”老一辈连环画队伍当中的一个重要的代表人物。读他的《傲蕾一兰》，总能感受到内蒙古草原达斡尔、鄂温等民族的浓烈的生活气息和一个民族业已消逝的不屈从于外来侵略的抗争史。
