莫士光，自幼酷爱书画，1953年毕业于广西省艺术专科学校后从事美术编辑和创作工作，曾任《广西美术》副主编。擅山水，喜以漓江风光为创作题材，重视写生，兼取西画技法，以水墨为主，富南疆情调。作品曾多次入选全国及广西自治区美术作品展览，并在报刊发表，或被单幅出版。《漓江红帆》、《漓江泛舟图》、《峰峦叠翠》等，被选送联邦德国、约旦、日本等国展出。其中《峰峦叠翠》获1985年在日本举办的“第十八届全国精选现代水墨画美术展”优秀奖，《松泉图》在首届“海峡两岸书画名家精品大展”中获金奖。亦擅版画、书法等，曾任广西美术家协会理事，广西自治区书法家协会常务理事。现为中国美术家协会会员，中国书法家协会会员，广西石涛艺术学会理事，副编审。
擅长中国画，以山水画为主，中年曾作版画、连环画。
作品中国画《金田新貌》藏广西区博物馆，《山区道上》入选第一届全国青年美展；版画《打土豪》藏韶山毛泽东同志旧居陈列馆。
《峰峦叠翠》1985年获日本举办的18届全国精选现代水墨画美术展优秀奖。
1988年获振兴广西文艺创作铜鼓奖荣誉奖。
