张雁碧，男，苗族，1938年出生于湖南沅陵，擅长中国画，中国美术家协会会员，系湖南工笔人物画领军人物。
张雁碧幼时即入有“北徐（徐悲鸿）南张”之称的画马名家张一尊门生，1950年又师从湖南著名书画家全修道。1963年，张雁碧从湖南师范学院艺术系首届中国画专业毕业。后又于湖北艺术学院王霞宙花鸟画工作室研究生毕业，为中国第一批美术专业研究生。张雁碧学识渊博，天资极高，诗文书画皆精，能工笔亦能写意，是湘西自治州第一个加入中国美术家协会的画家，湘西自治州第一届美术家协会主席，湘西自治州第一个公开出版年画、连环画、个人画集的画家。在上海、广州等地举办过个人画展。
张雁碧先后在湘西师范学院、湘西自治州群艺馆、《团结报》社工作，于1998年退休。
早期工笔人物绘画作品《劈山引水》、《欢乐的苗家》参加全国第四、六届美展；《欢乐的苗家》获全国第七届美展优秀作品奖，被中国美术馆收藏；《兄弟河》获全国少数民族美展优秀作品奖，被中央民族文化馆收藏；《三女找红军》被中央军事博物馆收藏；《贴心人》感动了时任国家主席的华国锋，他不仅在那幅画上亲笔签名，还在张雁碧的另外两张画上签了名。北京工笔画会会长、当代著名工笔人物画家潘洁兹曾在其学术论文《中国工笔重彩画的复兴》中对张雁碧的《金耳环》给予了高度评价，称这幅画在创作中融合中西画法，形成了工整细密、设色明丽典雅的个人风貌，渗透着作者精湛的传统笔墨功力和朴素的思想感情，是中国工笔重彩画复兴的代表作品。另有《金耳环》、《新》、《贺龙与任弼时》、《画坛天簌》等。线描作品临摩李公麟的《维摩诘图》、临摩吴道子的《八十七神仙卷》等，纸本白描高度简洁，如行云流水，被画家周达称赞为“以形写神”的杰作。

2012年因为“湖南百年”重大历史题材美术创作工程，以胡耀邦视察湘西为题材创作工笔人物《春到苗家》，为300×160厘米的传统人物工笔画，笔法精工而不失润活流动，意境完整而又具生动的人物情致，颦伸俯仰精微处缬纹皆见，但觉神韵流荡、真元袭人，伟美而又精美，为张雁碧一生之中所画最大尺寸的工笔，也为当代中国重大历史题材的最大传统工笔人物画之一。
