田明，又名田绍杰，别号紫虚居士，男，土家族，1948年生，湖南湘西人。中国美术家协会会员，中国艺术人类学学会会员。国家正高职称，吉首市文化馆研究员（教授），著名民族文化学者、学者型画家。毕业于南京邮电大学（原南京人口学院）及中国艺术研究院研究生部（院），师承龙瑞、陈绶祥。曾任联合国人口基金CPR/p17美术师，深圳“锦绣中华”及“中国民俗文化村”美术专家，湘西州民族工艺美术研究所研究员等职。现为吉首大学文学与新闻传播学院、美术学院、张家界学院客座教授，重庆市长江师范学院、湖北民族学院兼职研究员，湘西州政府民族民间文化保护工程专家委员会委员，以及中国工艺美术学会织锦专业委员会委员，中国少数民族美术促进会理事，湘西州美协荣誉主席，湖南吉首书画研究院院长等。
擅书画，谙音律，先后在南京、深圳举办个人画展。其画作题材广泛，人物、山水、花鸟均有涉及，雅俗共赏，清丽而不失端庄，秀雅中透出中正。民族文化及美术理论研究有较高的造诣，主持和承担国家及省哲学社会科学研究课题项目多个，出版有学术专著《土家织锦》、《故园画忆.湘西风情》、《当代中国画家田明》等多种。
