王孟义，字梦一，号大梦子、画室名为拜云楼，1952年生于湖南江华县。数十年立足湘南瑶族山区，坚持瑶山风情题材的中国画创作，以山水画见长，工笔、写意俱佳，人物小品也极具特色。
其工笔山水以描绘江南少数民族民居为主，造型特色有别于古人也不同今人而自成一格，受到学术界充分肯定。近年的水墨写意山水，笔墨丰华、大气磅礴，并将格调清新别致的村居古寨、山女高士妙然融合入画，自成一番独特的艺术气象。
作品多次在湖南省美展中获奖，参加中国美协举办的第八届全国美术作品展、全国第四届工笔画大展获优秀作品奖、跨世纪暨建国五十周年全国山水画大展、迎接新世纪中国工笔画艺术大展、中国西部大地情全国山水·风景画展、第二届全国少数民族美术作品展、全国第六届工笔画艺术大展、等等国内外诸多大型画展。
先后应邀在湖南师大美术学院，北京王府井北京画店名家画廊举办个人画展。《美术》、《国画家》、《美术报》、《湖南日报》、《北京日报》等数十家媒体介绍其人其画。入选《1900-1997中国工笔画》、《中国美术家》、《湖南美术五十年》等多部大型画集。出版个人画集《中国当代著名画家个案研究·王孟义瑶寨风情》、《实力派精英·王孟义专集》、《21世纪中国画坛名家艺术研究·王孟义山水人物》，
1994年11月画作经全国著名艺术品鉴定专家韩度权先生发现并推荐在北京琉璃厂荣宝斋长期展售，诸多作品为海内外人士与机构收藏。曾任湖南省美术家协会第六、七、九届工笔画艺委会委员，永州市文联副主席、美协副主席。
现居长沙，为中国美术家协会会员，中国工笔画学会会员。
