广东南海人，现为中国美术家协会会员、广东省美术家协会理事、广州市美术家协会常务副主席、《广州美术》主编，先后出版《区广安画集》、《区广安山水雅品集》《山水云林图》等七部画集，作品曾在国内外多个城市展出。他七岁被岭南书画名家、广东国画研究会核心成员卢子枢的高徒袁伟强收为入室弟子。从古法入手，传移摹写，并坚守传统山水画风，走出一条复归传统的成功路径。作品古朴、飘逸、意境沉厚，书卷气浓郁。其艺术风格承传着上个世纪二三十年代以来的画学传统，被学界誉为具有近百年历史的广东国画研究会第三代传人。
