曾孝濂，男，1939年6月生，云南省威信县人。现任中国科学院昆明植物研究所教授级画家。中国科普作家协会会员，美术专业委员会委员，中国云南美术家协会会员。长期从事科技图书插图工作，已发表的插图有2000余幅。他曾两次在香港举办个人画展，在中国美术馆举办了个人画展，作品《雉鸡》被该馆收藏。他曾赴台湾参加台北国际生态艺术展，有6幅作品入选参展。曾任中国植物学会植物科学画协会主席。毕生精力在科学和艺术之间寻求结合点，用绘画形式讴歌大自然、宣传呼吁保护鸟类、保护珍稀植物、保护地球环境。四十余年的科研和艺术生涯，参与完成多项科学研究项目，先后为五十余部科学著作画插图，在日本出版《云南百鸟图》个人画集。
从1991年设计T162《杜鹃花》邮票起，曾孝濂先后设计几套邮票以及《高山花卉》特种邮资片、《牡丹》普通邮资片，其中《杜鹃花》和《杉树》被评为当年度全国最佳邮票。
其美术作品多次参加全国性展出并多次获奖，并曾在美国、澳大利亚、日本、加拿大等国展出，１９９２年和１９９８年在香港举办两次个人美术作品展，１９９８年在中国美术馆举办“百鸟图”个展。作品“雉鸡”为中国美术馆收藏。同年云南人民出版社出版《中国云南百鸟图》画集，中国科普出版社出版《曾孝濂百鸟图精品选》册页，1999年北京人民美术出版社出版《花之韵》画册及《鸟语》、《花香》明信片，同年荣宝斋出版社出版《曾孝濂花鸟小品》明信片。
