刘维之，1939年12月生，湖北武昌人，现任湖北工学院美术系，基础教研室主任、教授、美术硕士研究生导师。
1965年毕业于广州美术学院国画系，师从关山月、黎雄才、杨之光等著名画家，65年8月分配到《广州日报》任美术编辑、记者。1978年任教湖北工学院至现在，现任湖北省政协委员、湖北省工艺美术学会副会长、湖北省道教学术研究会常务理事、武汉致公党海外联谊专委会组长，湖北省武汉市晴川书画联谊会副秘书长，中国美术家协会湖北分会会员，湖北省书法家协会会员，武汉长春观宗教艺术顾问等职。长期从事教育事业和中国艺术研究创作工作，主攻中国画、善人物、兼花鸟山水，擅长左笔书法和篆刻，热衷宗教壁画和陶艺等多种学科。1983年在武汉市长春观太清殿创作大型道教壁画《老子骑青年过函谷关》、《老子炼丹》等系列。1998年再次为武汉长春观七真殿创作道教壁画《王重阳祖师授道七子图》。1988年录入日本坂田武雄主编《中国现代篆刻家、书画家名鉴》，1991年被录入《中国当代艺术界名人录》，1993年作品《新编金瓶梅》人物工笔，被入选《20世纪国际现代美术精品荟萃》大型画册，同时被选入《国际现代书画家、篆刻家大辞典》，并荣获“国际文化交流”荣誉奖和“世界铜奖艺术家”称号，1997年入选《世界名人录》，1998年中国画《紫荆赞》入选《世界美术集》。1998年由电视台制作个人专题电视片《刘维之的艺术天地》在湖北卫视台、武汉电视台先后播出，并出版《刘维之写生画集》。代表作有湖北省政协委员。湖北省美术家协会会员，湖北省道教学术研究会常务理事。代表作品有国画《楚魂汨罗图》、《魂系九头鸟》。
