幼承家学，喜爱绘画。考入四川美术学院后，系统研习中国绘画，尤擅长中国山水画，创作亦丰。作品曾多次入选全国性美术作品展并获奖，亦数度赴日本、法国、美国、新加坡和加拿大等国展出。1996年4月在北京中国美术馆举办个人画展，获广泛好评。中国画《清溪放筏》获加拿大枫叶杯国际水墨画大展特别优秀奖；中国画《乡渡》获世界华人书画展铜奖；中国画《华蓥山下》获全国新闻界书画家邀请展优秀作品奖（唯一奖项）；中国画“酉水东流”入选《“中亨怀”全国书画大展》；中国画《古镇寻幽》为全国山水画展特邀作品；《春添嘉陵岸》参加全国情系西部中国画邀请展。出版有《钟纪明中国画集》、《四川中青年国画家11人集》、作品被编入国内外50余种画册。人民日报、中央电视台、《美术》、《国画家》、《江苏画刊》等刊物和国外部分报刊报道和介绍其山水画作品，评价作品构图新颖、格调雅致、画风独特而富于浓郁感人的地域特色，表现出深沉厚重的内涵和对大自然的精微情韵，显示出扎实的传统功力和勇于探索的创新精神。
